Ebrake question from a newbie

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1264488820

Hello there,

I'm a beginning builder, just got started on a '63 Chevy C20 project. I can't seem to figure out how to get parts for the emergency brake(propeller band style) The liner inside is worn out on half of the brake(in between the clamps) and I've looked on LMC truck & other places online for replacement parts, with no luck. Is it referred to by another name? Where would be a good place to track down parts for it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Ryan

Re: Ebrake question from a newbie

It may be a long shot, but if you have an ole-timey shop around that relines they're brake shoes, they could do it. I worked at a VW shop many years ago where we did all our own relining. Or, if they're still available at the parts stores, just get your own linings and replace them yourself. They will be the old rivet type with no glue.

Re: Ebrake question from a newbie

I had the one on my '63 C60 relined at an industrial and heavy truck parts supplier. Those type of e-brakes were more common on C40 and larger trucks up into the '80's. My '66 C30 has that style, but after about '72 the C30's went to a e-brake in the rear brake drums.
