Cancelling Cam differences

I’m cleaning, tightening, and replacing parts in my Tilt column
The older looking on on the left of the picture is the one that came with the column when I bought it USED off eBay.
Everything works except the Turn signal cancel after a right hand turn.
So I order a new Cam and received the new looking one on the right.
Is the new one right?
I noticed that the cancellation pins are in different locations.
Any insight will help.

Re: Cancelling Cam differences

Differences in the canceling cam/horn contact part matters by the position it is installed. The distance between the cams would determine how far you can turn the wheel to make the switch cancel.

Btw, your post on the springs in the switch for canceling operation rub on the bumps to click the turn signal switch back to the center (off) position.

Sounds like you are on the right track.

Yes thanks.
I’ve had some great, useful responses for each of my questions.
Again I apologize for three separate threads, but I haven’t figured out how to post multiple pictures, using my iPad.

Re: Cancelling Cam differences

What year is your column and what year cam did you order. I believe there is a difference between 67-69 and 70-72 in the cams. I do believe they can interchange though.

The difference might be in the position of the nub for the horn button pin. I know on the 66 and older columns, the steering wheels interchange, but the hole in the wheel where the horn nub goes thru is off by 30 degrees or so, which makes the nubs for the canceling cam be way out of wack to the turn signal switch.
