My 71 Progress
Ok guys I finally got around to getting my pictures from home so here you go. This is where the truck is right now, got all the frame done at the beginning of August, just need to get everything torqued to specs. I am back at school now and have been really busy so this is how she sets right now. Trying to find someone in town to help me learn some body work so I can get started on the cab, really want to get this thing going back together more. Ok thats enough talking here come the pics! Sorry she is a little dusty hadn't washed her off before the pictures!

Here are somemore, the rotors haven't been replaced yet, just put the old ones back on for now to get her off the floor, I haven't replaced all the brake lines or other brake parts yet!

Looks good I can't wait to get my frame started. I knew nothing about body work before I started my cab's rust repair. It didn't take me long to learn the wrong ways to do body work, I am still working on learning the right ways.

Nicely done Drew,
I am glad to see you have some documented progress. It looks like a perfect start to a worthy project. That frame is really solid for your neck of the woods. You are ahead of me actually, I have not even removed my cab yet!

Yeah I got an awesome deal on this truck, it is a one owner 1971 C-10 350/TH350, had a little rust under the doors and a little rust in the cab corners, that was it. Paid very little for it bought a new battery and drove it home, ran like a top but didn't look so hot, started to just drive it for awhile but got to tearing into some of the minor problems and decided since I didn't have to drive it I would just do a frame off from the beginning. Completely bought the truck by accident was looking for a camaro project on E-bay, someone had listed this in the camaro catagory, have always loved these trucks and love hugger orange so I put in an extremely low ball bid on it of 1,300 and that is what I got it for, went to pick it up and the guy knocked 300 off because he told me it ran perfect when he parked it a few months earlier and the battery was dead when I got there. He was a really stand-up guy owns a car dealership in Boonville IN and I would purchase another vehicle from him in a heartbeat based on the way he handled this sale. Hopefully sometime next fall she will be starting for the very first time after the rebuild!

Congrats on getting the project started. Now for a tip to keep you moving. It's great to have a plan and follow it with everything in place. But here in the real world things seldom go as planed and the big do the cab is more than you have time for with school and trying to have a life. So you take a smaller part to work on like take a door apart and clean it up and replace any worn or broken parts. AC/heater system rebuild it making sure all the doors, vacuum dash pots, and lines are replaced as you don't need the hassle after you get it on the road. You get what I'm saying, don't let a major roadblock shut you down. It all has to be done and although it's better done in order it's better to finish it than let a roadblock make you quit.

Yeah I know what you mean Ron, just doing the cab seems really big, I do have 2 doors that are in pretty good shape just needing minor body work and a little TLC on the windows locks and mirrors or I have a pair of fenders that need a small amount of body work I could get to working on. Right now I have no free weekend to work on anything until atleast the first of Nov. though so I have plunty of time to plot my next move before I get there! And I know about the plan not working thing, thats why I owned the truck for a year before had started putting it back together, life sometimes gets in the way of progress.

Yes the frame is powdercoated, there is a place in southern IN that is SUPER CHEAP, cost me $390 to have the frame, front crossmember, and 4 A-arms sandblasted and powdercoated. The thing is slick as snot but the semi-gloss that it is painted is shinier than most spray can gloss! so its a little shiny.
