Re: 1967 step side build!

Cut and replaced the driver rocker, inner rocker, cab corner. Cut out and replaced the rotted wire gutter on the firewall. This will have another piece over it once the cowl gets on. Made patches for the entire passenger upper door frame. Cleaned up the roof and rust killed it then painted it. I test fitted the new roof skin and it fits pretty good. I’ve started on the passenger rocker and cab corner. It’s a murder scene behind there. Lol once I get that on and hang the passenger door I can fit the roof. I’m going to shave the roof rails while I’m at it. We making progress though.

Nice truck , love the tailgate ,hope you can find a small window cab if you have to replace it. Started to read along cause we have something common. I have a '67 step side , but as I kept reading I realized we have dogs that are in common , mine is a Goberian her father was Golden Retriever and her mother was Siberian Husky. she'll be a year old in March.

Re: 1967 step side build!

We got the roof panel on and started welding it down. My stepson is a big help and I’m glad he’s into it. After I rust killed the inner roof panel I sprayed it with a coat of paint. We set the roof panel on and started tacking it into place. Love this new welding machine!

Re: 1967 step side build!

Good looking work my friend. That's just what I have been wanting to do to my truck as far as the roof. Mine has a little rain gutter rust and I thought about replacing the outer roof panel and cleaning the inner roof and adding some Dynamat just about like you done. Now that you got the process down maybe I could bring mine over!

Re: 1967 step side build!

This is some of the rust repairs which ended up being pretty extensive. I'm not a pro but I did the best I could.

She's pretty crusty there. I admire your efforts to revive her.

Nice work, it shows how much you can get done if you just stick with it.

Good luck, Rg

Re: 1967 step side build!

So I seam sealed all overlaps and welds where the cowl would cover. Then I used a Dulpi-color rust barrier coating to seal and protect under the cowl. I liked this product as it rolled and brushed out easy.

Re: 1967 step side build!

While I was replacing the roof skin I welded the roof seam up solid. I also shaved the gutters off. I shaped a piece of 1/4" RB around doors for a small rain diverter. I've seen others do that and liked it. Its hard to see in the pics but I think once its body worked its going to look good.

Re: 1967 step side build!

I found a company called Atomic Armadillo to custom bead roll a firewall panel for me. He did an amazing job! Its going to be a nice subtle mod.

Re: 1967 step side build!

Wow, wow, AND Wow....a lot of work!!!!

Show us a closer picture of the gutter replacement trim, you added.

I've read comments on lots of builds here, that say, Oh, I've seen worse repaired! I'm not sure you'll get many of those words on your build!!!
