Th400 speedo gear glued into the housing , help

I'm looking for any help on how to get the gear drive for the speedometer out on my th400. The PO smeared blue RTV all over it, mayne in it. It should just pop out but I cannot get it to move.. should I toss a pair of channel locks on it to try and twist it?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob

See it all the time...2 choices....

Drop the driveshaft and pull the extension housing, then pry it out from inside the housing

or

consider the speedo housing as sacrificial, grab it with a pair of vice grips around the threaded section and then pry it out. New housings are not that expensive....

ebay or amazon etc

People do this all the time trying to stop the oil leaks....there is an O ring around the body of the speedo housing and most important is the tiny oil seal inside the end tip of the housing that dries out and is cause of most leaks.

Thanks, that's what i thought. Just dumb, although it's not leaking there, it's leaking somewhere else. Lol
