TKX anyone?

Well the T5 in my daily driver started making noise and after draining the fluid there is significant glitter in with it. Hence I'm thinking seriously about upgrading to the TKX, so I'm looking for advice or comments from anyone who is using this transmission.
How smooth are the shifts? Which size bellhousing does it use? The 5.125 or the smaller 4.68 I think it is? Thoughts on which version to choose? I am running a 283 with 3.73 rear gears and 30.2 inch tall tires. My current thinking is the one with the lower first gear is best suited for my current setup? To bad I can't test drive both versions then pick.
From what I can tell the TKX is about an inch shorter than my current T5. Can this difference be made up with a longer slip yoke? I know I'll need a new slip yoke & clutch disc anyway.

I just installed the TKX in my truck and love it!
It shifts fast and smooth.
I went with the wide ratio Silver Sport suggested.
Give em a call they are super helpful

I've been looking into one for my 81 square. Really want a 5 speed instead of an auto, but not sure if I'm ready to spend the money on one yet

Just don't do what I did! LOL
Bought a T56 for around $1k and then spent $3k making it as strong as a TKX and moving the shifter to the access port in the farthest forward position!

That's alright I've already paid to set this truck up for the T5 that's in it now LMAO. Now I'm going to spend more money to go TKX. However then I'll have a brand new bulletproof transmission that has better gearing as well. I put about 40 thousand miles on the T5. Just wish it would have lasted longer.
Last fall I had been planning on selling this truck come spring but as it turns out assembling the engine that's in it now was the last thing my oldest brother & I worked on together before he passed away suddenly in March from lung cancer. So I find myself unable to sell irregardless of what it costs me.

We should start the "Buy/Cry Twice" club! LOL
So very sorry to hear about your brother. My '65 is really my younger brothers who passed in 1999 from a car accident. You never really get over losing a brother, but it will get better with time! I have found that having his truck to wrench on has been helpful, but, that it is his truck, has made it way more expensive than if I was just building something for myself. I want everything perfect!

Well in the end I put together a T5 with the parts from three I had laying around. Put it in Monday morning and have about 600 miles on it so far. We'll see how it goes.
