What are you using for oil filters?

It's been at least two years now without an oil change on two vehicles so it's time.

I'm hesitant to use Wix because on the other vehicle their 51258 ADV anti-drain-back valve doesn't work and with it my car would rattle like crazy on start up.

Does a 350 from a 79 Chev even need an ADV? My auto parts store calls for a 51061 no ADV. Apparently a 51060 has an ADV but I don't know if it works or not.

The auto parts store has 15-40 Cam Oil formulated for old cars with flat tappet engines and that is what I plan on using again.

Thoughts?

Edit: Here's the link for the oil I am using https://camoils.com/

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

Use the 51060 on my own truck with a 79 350 in it.

That oil is fine for you to use.

Hope this helps

Mostly I use Wix or Purilator, but I have sometimes used the O'Reilly's Microgard ones too

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

I removed a Purolator PL34631but I can't get them here anymore so Wix 51060 took its place. I see a Delco PF1218 is listed for my vehicle and it has an ADV. Hopefully the one on the Wix works. It did on the Purolator. Lay it on its side and no oil comes out of the outside holes.

I bounce between k&n and wiz. The you can get the k&n with an integral hex nut on the filter body, which I really like a lot.

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

Wix either 51060 or 51061 the ADV makes no difference in this case.
Oh and I buy them by the case on Amazon about half the price O'Reilly charges

That's just an invitation for someone to overtighten it. If you need anything other than a gloved hand to remove your filter than it was overtightend in the first place.

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

My brother got pranked by somebody loosening his oil filter. I make sure mine don't come of by hand. They get an extra half turn past hand tight.

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

I use the Wix 51060 with the ADV on my 1997 K2500 with a 454 - no issues with the ADV. On my 1978 C20 (454) and K25 (350) I use 51061 without the ADV.

I would rather my wix filter weep a bit than get it on so tight I struggle to remove it next time.

We had so many problems with K&N in the motorcycle world its been banned from most tracks. Some thing happened on my moms accord v6 too, blew oil everywhere. Never again will I touch a K&N oil filter.

Re: What are you using for oil filters?

AC Delco now, but I'd be open to WIX. Once the truck is running regularly I'd like to get the AC Delco with the white vintage paint for the retro look I'm trying to keep.
