Question Widening stock steel rims? Help!

So these are the rims I have, 16x6.5 in 8 bolt. I cant find any other rims I really like in the 8 bolt pattern and am considering just having these widened, maybe just the rears for some bigger meats. I'm going the "rat rod" look so Ill just end up painting them with dull hard wear.
Any thoughts and how much does it normally cost, maybe going to a 10 wide size.
Thanks.

Re: Widening stock steel rims? Help!

I had mine 16x6,5's from a 90's truck widened to 8" for the front and to 9" for the rear wheels.
I had it done at a wheel shop here in Sweden and I think it was like $70-80 for each wheel, I don't have any idea what it would cost in US though.

Re: Widening stock steel rims? Help!

That`s exactly what I`ve wanted to do for my`92 GMC K/3500.It`s all stock yet custom built(I had the factory do the work/factory ordered).Either Stockton Wheel or Pete Paulsen Wheels have wheels that appear to be the same design as these GMs.I know there are places around Baltimore that can do it,so I`m sure ifyou ask around you can locate a shop nearer to you.Are there any dirt track racers around your area? This may not be so cheap,it`s "true" custom.Flashier wheels can be had cheaper. But,stick to your guns. You know what you want, get it.

I had a set done in the 15x8 to 15x12 ralley style. A machine shop could do it for you. I could post pics if you want.

I would have to look into it. Never had any need but know of people having them done over the years in the area some where. Start with calling Ye Olde Wheel Shop in Elkridge and see if they do it or know who does (410) 796-8400

Weldcraft out of Michigan took my Boss 338s to 14 inches. Fast turnaround too.
