Timing Issue
I'm running a 383 stroker and I have to get the timing reset about every 1000 miles and it cost money. HEI dist. 750 holley. I've tried a couple different Dist. Clamps but the HEI base is too slick. Everyone sells the stupid chrome clamps which are useless.
Anyone have any Ideas? I don't have access to a junk yard to get a factory clamp or I would try that. |

Re: Timing Issue
Take some 60~80 grit sandpaper or rough file and scratch up the bottom side of the clamp. If needed, do the same to the spots the clamp hits on the HEI.

Re: Timing Issue
make sure it's not bottomed out on the oil pump shaft not letting it seat correctly.

Re: Timing Issue
Do you have the gasket between the distributor and the manifold?

Re: Timing Issue
interesting find....no need for a timing light just by use of that clamp ????
i guess if we all take the time to mark the disto shaft, we wouldnt need light. |
