crusin the coast
Gulfport Mississippi. I'm planning to go next Oct. Looking for tips from anyone that has been there. Best area/place to stay. Best day(s) to be there. Best events. Any input appreciated. Thanx in advance.

You're smart to start looking now . Traffic is terrible everywhere . Usually I stay at a hotel on 90 so when I get tired , I can sit on the hotel parking lot and watch everyone else.

Dont do burnouts ,they will get you ,its quite costly .We used to stay for a whole week at an extended stay place ,much cheaper than Hotels .Go to the swap meets the day they are setting up and you get in free although you get one ticket with registration. All the events are fun ,the veterans hospital is cool ,they bring out the veterans to see the cars .The opening parade is fun but you have to line up early or you wont get in.The last saturday the whole strip becomes a perking lot ,find backroads around it and keep your tank full.

Burn outs will get ya burnt. Hit all the cruisin points. Leave early for good parking spots. Stay in the are where you like. Gulfport Boloxi area on the strip if your a late night er and don't mind heavy traffic and like nite life. Bay St. Louis and ocean springs for more laid back areas. Bring a gps for alternate routes to get around. Hit the swap meet early cuz once it gone, well it's gone. Be careful of drinking and driving they will haul you in. Book your room now. They fill up fast and get higher the closer it is to the cruisin the coast date.
Expect minor scrapes. Get them every year. Some are bigger than others like last year some lady hit my truck....parked, and I wasn't even near it thank god the other cruisers stopped her and get her plate number and called the cops cuz she was just going to drive off like nothing happened. Caused $2175 in damage. Yep she was drinking and didn't have insurance either. Does that stop me. No. Already booked a room and paid my dues. Most of all have fun.

theres not any close to the action, be prepared to spend anywhere from $150 to $275 a nite on hwy 90, i had a friend rented a house on hwy 90 for $1100 for 8 days , pulled his trailer in the yard unloaded car cruised around, got tired pulled in the yard broke out the chair and watched all the cars cruise

On the strip ain't cheap. We stay at the Casino in bay st louis for around $139 per night. Where the action is can run from $200-400 per night depending on if it's the roach motel or a plain ol room. Made my reservations around thanksgiving when they started taking them. Year before we stayed at treasure bay right on the strip for around $179. I'm going cheaper this year, ain't like I use the room but to wash up and sleep.

The strip is where to be for a nonstop car show driving by. We just go to a trends right off the strip and hang out.

We stayed in an extended stay place in D'Iberville right off the interstate and it was around $400 for 7 nights but that was a few years a go .The whole place was booked with car guys and gals .Im pretty sure its the only extended stay place there ,cant remember the name though.

The earlier you book the cheaper the rates. I booked 2 months ago at thanksgiving time when they opened it up to reservations. See ya at the Hollywood.
