Parts are starting to roll in! Received my PB rear crossmembers, trans crossmember, trans mount, compressor housing, and my Boyd tank mounting kit from Travis at Pro Performance. Still waiting on my PB TA crossmember.

I also ordered a Viair 480C compressor the other day and should be here this week. Come to find out my 12v distributor that I use for our boat systems carries air components due to the popularity of train horns. Even though they didn't have a tank I liked and air line was too high, I did score a nice little discount on the compressor as well as it helps with my numbers with them. Should be here by the end of the week.

No work on the truck as its now deer season. Spending as much time as I can in the woods freezing and not seeing a thing. But in 2 weeks it should be on! Going have to as my garage will be overrun with boxes or parts and no money for any more.

I'm doing my PB stuff in stages. Ordered the Stage 1/2 Basic kit last winter and now all this stuff. Full front setup will just have to wait as I have enough going out right now just to get the truck running. Definitely top notch stuff.

I debated on drivetrains quite a bit. Always wanted a big block but afraid I wouldn't drive it much. 383 would have probably been cheaper and easier. But the power and reliability of these LS motors were what sealed the deal for me. Plus I found a screaming deal on a complete LQ4/4l80e pullout.

Things are starting to progress. Had a good weekend, spent time with family and friends, helped one of my best friends dad move his '50 chevy truck to storage, put up Christmas lights and a buddy came over today to help work on the truck and watch football. He and his wife brought their 1 year old son and he had a blast "helping". Got the bed and hood off so that's a big step in the right direction. I should be able to complete the tear down myself but he's probably going to be coming over to help on weekends.

I officially have compressed air in the garage which is really nice. Really like the Rapidair kit so far. The rubber line that goes from the tank to the hard line does have a leak at the fitting but going to call in the morning.

I also took advantage of some Black Friday deals and ordered all my engine parts. Got all my Brian Tooley valve train parts and ported oil pump on its way. My cousin is suppose to come in town and help me get the cam swapped in during Christmas break.

I'm getting pretty excited.

One thing is for sure: I'm real good at spending money. Talked to North Texas Convertors about my torque convertor. They are having an extended Black Friday sale but not sure if its enough for me to pull the trigger today. I've already spent most of my build budget for the month, have Christmas coming up and don't really need it right now. However I did like talking to those guys and will more than likely be getting a 3400 billet convertor from them.

I swear time flies in the blink of an eye. Had planned to work on the truck nearly all weekend. Well Friday night we went to a hockey game, Saturday was Emma's volleyball game and Christmas shopping, and today my cousin talked me into going to a spot shoot. First time going to this place and while it was fun, it was also a waste of time. Unless you brought a shooting bench and a shotgun with a 22x plus scope and 50"+ barrel (no friggin joke) you had no chance of winning. A couple of Kentucky boys with Benellis and turkey chokes were no contest. I swear some guys were shooting slugs by looking at their cards

Anyways I know that's not truck related but I did get to work a few hours out in the garage this evening. Removed the shocks, spare tire carrier,half of the Trac-bar, and started on the rivets. I can't get the trac-bar bolt out that connects to the frame. The nut is off but the bolt seems welded on or something. A few min with a short 4lb sledge did nothing but knock more rust off the truck. Rivet removal method for now is using a sanding disc on my 4" grinder and a drill bit. So far it's not bad and pretty clean. Well except for the garage floor.

Snuck out to the garage for a bit tonight. I'm starting to see why everyone complains about removing rivets. I did get the rear frame crossmember mocked up so it looks like progress. Also took my measurements so I can pick out my air tank. Plan is to mount a 5-gallon between the rear crossmember and rear bumper.

Also worked on getting the motor/trans ready to take out.

Finally! A full day out in the garage. Got my Colts playing on the TV, cold beer in the fridge and going to town on these rivets. These things SUCK! Especially the ones underneath. I can't get the trailing arm bolt out so that's making it extra difficult. Was going to try and save it but aggravation set in and it's now in 3 pieces Working on the last 2 rivets and the 2nd frame crossmember and original trac bar are out. Then only 142 more to go. I'm hoping these are the toughest ones.

The TV is real nice. Makes laying on my back with a grinder and a hammer tolerable. Funny as it's the biggest TV screen we have at home

Well what I thought was going to take an hour took just about all day. I would so go broke if I did this for a living. Unless I charged by the hour and then I'd have to charge $1200 to install two crossmembers.

I also mocked up my Boyd tank. It's currently sitting on my floor jack. Going to drill the holes another day. I'm worn out.

I see at least one more batch of rivets you get to cut out for the shock crossmember. SO MUCH FUN!! NoT! I cut every single one off my frame. It was like 200. It was horrible, but I got pretty good at them. Grind the head if I could get to it, air hammer it and on to the next. Now I get to do it again on my GMC :/

The top ones are pretty easy. It's the ones on the bottom of the frame that give me fits, especially when I couldn't get the trac bar off. Bought a 40 grit and 80 grit flapper wheels for my grinder. The 40 will flat out eat the head off in a hurry but it makes me nervous when getting close to the frame. My air hammer sucks.

I will be pulling the cab now as I still have the trailing arm crossmember to replace. It'll probably be quicker if I do.

I did have the luxury of having a bare frame so I could flip it over. I'm going to do the gmc the same way. Damn laying in my back to cut those things off.
