New to me ‘67

Had a neighbor stop by and ask me if I was interested in a ‘67 that he just picked up. A church member had sold it to him. Her husband passed away last year and she wanted it gone.

I wasn’t really looking for one as I’ve already got a ‘66 c10 project. However, it was cheap, has the original 283, runs and we drove it a short distance, clutch was good. Clean and clear title was a huge plus too! Another project….

Sometimes those strays just need a good home. Not a bad find, I must say.

Clean it up and drive it. Use it as your Parts getter for your other truck.

Re: New to me ‘67

That is a good example of a decent solid truck that just looks like hell at the moment.
It looks pretty straight. Some rockers, bumpers, and some prep and paint, this would be a nice truck.

Re: New to me ‘67

I’ll dig into it this weekend. My neighbor I bought it from brought it to me on his rollback yesterday. It was literally only a mile from my house. I haven’t even looked in the glove box yet. It was neglected, when he went to look at it, it was sitting on some bricks in a back yard with no wheels. The local kids shot the back window and driver door window out with BB gun. He brought it to his shop and threw a set of wires and cap on it and the old 283 fired up. They drove it up the road a piece and came back. That’s all that’s been done so far. I gotta clear a space out in the shop by my ‘66 and get it in the dry this weekend.

Re: New to me ‘67

My non expert thoughts are, that it's a V-8 (283) stripper. Just enough visual goodies to make it look a little nicer to entice original buyer to go for it!!! The options are on the majority of these years of pickups...

Re: New to me ‘67

Ok I finally got a little time to look at the engine. Obviously I don’t have the original 283 now that I’ve looked it over. So what do I have here guys? Here’s the data boss numbers and the block casting numbers. The tall air cleaner spacer just doesn’t look right for this truck as well.

Whew, that Quadrajet looks like it needs some TLC!!!
www.Cliffshighperformance.com is the best place for a kit and parts, 1-740-397-2921
The quality of his parts is second to none.

Be VERY careful with that fuel inlet nut, they strip out, mightily easy!!!

Re: New to me ‘67

It does need some work! Yesterday I was able to get it fired up and the old fuel pump is pumping clean fuel from the tank now. However it didn’t last long. The engine sounds really good and no smoke. It was good at high RPM’s and it would almost idle. However she dies every time I hit the throttle. I can pour a little more fuel in carb and fire it back up with throttle held open but if I let off a bit and try to accelerate again it dies immediately.

My neighbor that I bought it from had originally fired it up a couple weeks ago when he brought it home. He said it was pumping fine right when they cranked it. They took off up the road about a half mile then it started sputtering and wouldn’t take the gas. It’s been sitting since 2003 so I’m surprised it’s doing this good.

Re: New to me ‘67

This is gonna be a project after I get my ‘66 done. So need some opinions…..

I like it like it is with all the character (patina). I might would do a 3/4 drop, change to 5 lug and throw some ARE Torq Thrust VN309’s on it, replace the rockers, patch floor, replace bed wood, find the missing side trim, replace bumpers and drive it.

I do however have access to a ‘68 donor truck. I could swap the cabs and have the big back window but that cab needs about the same amount of repair.

What you guys think? Keep the small window cab and leave it patina or swap cabs and then end up having to paint it or do the whole truck?

Here's Mine (My Opinion that is)

Work on your '66 till you run into a Road/block

Then work on the 67.Part-Time

Spray some Clear rattle can on the 67.
That will save the Patina /Till you decide / ??
Drive it as it is.

Leave the 68 alone
As that would be your 3RD project
