1967 longhorn brush guard - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Any thoughts or ideas what what this factory installed brush guard might be worth. It's a terrible picture because of all the vines around it. But it's in great shape. This truck was bought new from a local chevy dealer near me by my friend's Dad. It even had the side step foot holes in the box.

They seem to go for $300-$500 range. Shipping is the one set back.

Truck is a 68 longbed 1/2 ton, not that it matters.
I agree with jimer on price. Looks like some good parts on that truck yet.

I'd off $100, but go as high as $200 on the rear bumper if it's something you need. I'm not certain just by looking if it's a factory step.

This is my truck. I bought it 20yrs ago. Bad thing it's been sitting out this whole time.

plenty of grill guards out there for 1-200 dollars. but shipping them can cost that much again. Ditto on the rear bumpers, shop around as there is always somebody giving them away (Thanks Smitty) and again.. shipping.

No luck in getting it off. It's just hard getting those bolts loose by hand plus the truck is sitting real low in the ground. It does have a bend in it but could be fixed pretty easy by the way it looks. Should have loaded up the torch.

Wow. I wonder how it took that sort of damage? Looks like someone put a jack under it there and tried to jack up the front end.

I hope you are wearing safety glasses when you get under that thing. You have already thought of this no doubt, but you might could jack it up and block it up, allowing more room to work. Digging out underneath would also work.

I have found ZEP 45 and ZEP Twister to be effective on freeing up bolts if applied over time. Of course a torch is king on such rust.

With that damage, I would pass I think, besides, that is for a GMC not a Chevy.

GMC has two headlights per side and needs a wider opening in the guard for that. This grill guard has that wider opening on each side.

Dealer might still have installed it, not knowing or not caring and maybe the owner was OK with that.

I could be wrong, someone else might chime in. There may be a number stamped where the two main mounting bolt heads are.....one of my grill guards has that number.

No problemo....those things I learned here.

Be careful under any vehicle, I got rust in my good eye once doing that. Wear your eye protection and I don't just mean your glasses.

You may have to break those bolts off also.
