c10 to 4x4

Alright so I need 4x4, I love our trucks and have decided to undertake this crazy project. I have a 65 c10 stepside I want to make 4x4 a guy has a Dana 44 front and 12 bolt rear with 3.73's he says are out of a 70s 4x4 Chevy. This sounds like a strong setup and the widths are real similar, my question is what this setup is worth? Am I crazy for doing this? Is there a better way than this to get 4x4? Thanks!

Re: c10 to 4x4

They used to convert 2 wheel drives pre 1960 on 1/2 tons. They still custom made 4wd components for 1 tons after 1960. Napco was a supplier to GM before and after 1960 so you might start looking at how they did it. There's reproduction literature you can buy about Napco and there's guys here who have a lot of knowledge.
Make your life simple and find a 4wd. chassis then swap your body panels over.

You definitely might want to poll the guys on the 4x4 forum. If anyone can get you what you want to know they can
