Panel gap - door frame to a pillar

I'm hoping to align my doors this weekend and I have a question about the alignment between the door window frame and the a-pillar. Should these panels be flush with one another or should the door frame sit to the inside of the a-pillar? I have attached a photo for reference.

The door frame should set in a little from the windshield post.
