I would keep the chrome bumpers. They look good.

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"

If you go with the 68 trim, you "must" keep the chrome bumpers. Painted bumpers look alright, but not with the side molding.

I agree with all you, I am going to keep the bumpers and it will have the side trim for sure.

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"

Me and my father got 90% of the pieces cut out for my "home made" c4 dropmember today. I will post some pics when we start welding it up. The way it is looking I will have less than $30 in my c4 dropmember. It is made out of 3/16" and 1/4" metal and the pipe that the lower arms mount to is 1 3/4" DOM tubing. I want to give a special thanks to my father ( Roger Jennings) since he is the brains behind the build of my whole ride, I am just a wrench turner. Maybe pics tomorrow

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"

The 67/8 side trim will look sick on there. I was considering it for mine, but have decided on a different route.
Post up pics of that crossmember when you get a chance.

Out of respect for the innovator of the "Dropmember" maybe you should call it something else.

I'll hold my opinion until I see the results.

I may call mine the Poor Man's Member It may not look as good as a "dropmember" when finished but I bet it will do the same thing, but mine is cut out with a plasma not a cnc and my beads may not look the best either

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"

While my guess is that the name "Dropmember" is trademarked, that's not my real concern. I would be more apprehensive over proper function. With some ingenuity a good fabricator can replicate the "appearance" of any of the popular IFS on the market. The concern is can they replicate the dynamics of the design. Without the proper geometry built in, bump steer and tracking could become a handling nightmare.

Yeah if you didn't know **** about the geometry you could really mess something up. I am sure glad that we know what we are doing

Thanks to the one's that are supporting us on building our own c4 crossmember.
I dont think anyone is trying to flame you.. It's just that you seem to have a knack for coming across as an arrogant a$$. Its great that you can do it yourself, and its great that you have someone who guide you on building it correctly. It just seems that you want to talk down to everyone who shells out the cash for the original dropmember, I could have built one myself, but to me it was worth the $$ to have a part that I know would function well and I could have it now. I dont have alot of time to work on my project anymore so you have to weigh that when making decisions

Arrogant?? Why would I pay $1400 for something I can and am building myself for less than $100 and have only about 20 hrs in building? For the people that want to build one on there own, when I get done I will give you the measurements and you can build your own also. I bet I don't have anymore time than the next person building his project consedering I work 6 days a week and only get to work on my stuff a few hours a week. I bet I don't make the money that most people do also so I have to save money where I can. I appreciate everybody's opnion but what I am building is my only option for getting my suspension installed. Also when I am at a show and someone ask where did you get the crossmember for the c4 stuff, I will glady say "I built it myself".

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"

by all means build it, its your truck.
my point (which you confirmed) was that you seem to come across kind of arrogant. Im not saying its intentional or that its really a problem. You just said you were tired of people saying this and that about you. I was just trying to give you some insight as to why they might be saying things.

If people don't have nice things to say they should keep them to theirselves. If I am arrogant don't come over here reading my post and we won't have the discussions. I don't come over on you and say what is on my mind for the sake of keeping piece and you should have kept the arrogant remark to yourself. I may be arrogant and I probaly am but I keep the smart a$$ remarks to myself as much as I can so I don't piss people off since this not what this site is for. This is the last thing I am saying about it since this is my build thread and not for discussing things of this matter.
