Dual Exhaust Set Ups?

I am ready to install exhaust on my 68 Short Step. It has a V8 with both ramhorns curling back.

I would like to know what you guys run...pipe size, offset/center exit/enter on mufflers, exit before wheels or at back.

What is the proper size for the ranhorns?

Any pictures would be cool.

I am leaning to exiting before rear wheels

PS...I am running a poly blazer tank in the rear.

My stock ramhorns are 2" outlet. I'm replacing them with vette ramhorns in a couple weeks, they have 2.5' outlet. I'm going to run 2.5" pipe through chambered mufflers and exit before the rear wheels. As far as the mufflers go they are reversible with one end centered and the other offset. I guess the muffler man would run in the center side and out the offset side with the offset down. If that makes any sense. My ramhorns exit down as do the vette ones I'm installing. But I believe your swept back ones are 2" also. Someone will correct if I'm wrong.

1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

Thumbs up Exhaust pictures

I hope this picture will be helpful. I don't have the ramhorns, I used ceramacoat headers, but the same principals would apply. I used 2-1/2" aluminized, ran the pipe over the rear axle, tricky bends with the trailing arms & shocks, but a good exhaust man can do just about anything. I used 2-1/2" Summit turbo mufflers, but I dont have to worry about rust, as this is strictly a pleasure craft. If it was going to see bad weather, I would have gone with stainless. Again, hope this picture helps.

On the JImmy I have 2 1/2" rams horns, 2 1/2" mandrel bent tubing and Dynomax Hemi Turbo mufflers. It has pipe exits behind the wheels that are 45 degrees to the frame and have slash cuts on the end.

Mine's got 2" stainless from the original header pipes back..with stainless glasspacks.

i have dual 3'' w/ flowmasters and h-pipe that exit the rear w/ a poly tank. its a tigt fit over the rear axle w/ 2.5'' drop. the tail pipes are turned down and tucked behind therear bumper

Whatever you use, I'd get the X crossover from DrGas.com. It'll get ya 15 or so extra ponies, plus make it sound really COOL.........z

I'm using Flotech headers. 3" collectors into 2.5 pipe, turbo mufflers about 3' behind the collectors, and exiting before the rear wheels. The total cost was about $275 including the headers. It works, and sounds great.
