A couple photos from the engine build process

1. Checking pushrod lengths with the comp cams adjustable checker.

2. Had to clearance the heads in several spots to get some pushrod clearance

3. I went with a small base circle cam but wanted to make extra sure the rod caps/bolts had plenty room using clay on the rods

4. Between camshaft end play with the button and shims, head clearance for push rods, rocker arm alignment, setting pre-load... this part of the process had me being extra meticulous! Was super stocked to get to this point

Re: 1972blueC10 Engine build that escalated!

loaded up for dyno day, of course it came down to the wire when I had forgotten to order some jets to try some different calibrations on the quadrajet, I ended up dropping the engine off at the dyno shop, then rushed back home because I had just gotten a notification that UPS delivered the jets

To avoid beating it up, I waited until after dyno run to do the painting. I wanted the engine to have a relatively stock looking appearance. Stamped valve covers/timing cover, paint the heads versus raw aluminum, etc...

Prep work, de-burring sharp edges in casting, sanding, cleaning every nook and cranny

All primed up

After spraying the color, removed the tape and sprayed clear on everything to keep the manifold from oxidizing and easier to clean that bare aluminum
