Oil pressure gauge and dummy light

The PO disconnected the oil dummy light and installed a mechanical gauge. Is there a way to keep the mechanical gauge and hook up the dummy light, too?

maybe run a "t" at the block. sending unit can be plumbed intto that and the other line could function the guage. you may have to get creative with the fittings, but they are all common sizes. did po damage the wiring harness during his conversion? id restore cluster to original and mount mechanical gauge under dash or get the factory guage cluster and use the overspeed lamp for your oil pressure switch

Get a 1/8 " pipe T & a short nipple at the parts store or hardware store. Put it in the outlet on the engine & put the oil light switch in one hole & the fitting for the oil line in the other.

A dummy light would of saved me and my 65 when I was a radical back in 83.
My friends and I use to go out to this place outside Woodland California - 'The Rolling Hills' - A huge wide farm road.
Many locals called the place The Roller Coasters.
Because of how smooth and wide the dirt road was, we could just fly over those hills. Because of the speed we'd go, it really gave you the up and down rush of a roller coaster.
In the winter it became a great place to go Muddin.
Plowing through the mud, fish tailing, and flying over the hills. Anyway, we were having so much fun, I didn't notice my oil pressure dropped off because the dim lighted old gauges on my 65.
The warning light would of caught my attention sooner.
Well, I shut the engine off and it seized up.
Put some oil in it and pull started it back on paved road, but the cam was shot.

This is exactly what I did in my '63, but I have a factory gauge dash.
I ran the wire from the idiot light sender to where the overspeed warning red light would have been on the cluster (and sanded off the "overspeed warning" words on the red lens) so now I have a pressure gauge and a warning light. It is located next to the oil pressure gauge in the picture.

I did the same with the temperature sensor as well. I have a factory temperature gauge as well as the sender for the green/red idiot light. I only use the wire from the red side of that sender and it goes to the other red dot in my gauge cluster. It is located next to the battery gauge in the picture.

9 months later and I finally got around to this little project. I don't know why, but it put a smile on my face to see all the dummy lights illuminated for the 1st time.

Nice! I want to do the same for the same reason.. I got my Gen light working and now I want to get my Oil light working too.

I know it's an older thread - I like posting in on topic threads rather than starting another on the same topic.
Where did you put the dummy light?
There's a recent post where they put the dummy light in the speed warning or tandem lock red warning light location.
Could do water on one and oil on the other.

I connected my oil pressure gauge to the pressure port at the rear of the intake manifold near the distributor. There is another pressure port just above the oil filter. I put the sender for the idiot in this one. Seems to work just fine. This is on a 350 motor.
