Air duct full of leaves.
How do I get this chrome piece off of the dash to get the leaves out of the air duct? I don't see any screws to remove it.

They are in the back. Located at 9 and 3 o'clock position.

You have to take out the glovebox liner. Reach around and take the AC hoses off both sides located on the backside of the vent, plus the diverter housing on the backside of the vent. Then you will see how it remains in place.
Really though, the hardest part is removing the glove box liner without damaging it. Almost impossible for me, so I just order the new liner. They're relatively cheap. Pat |

Have a shop vac? You can take off the duct to the heater box and stick the vac hose into it and suck all the grup out that way. Way it looks might have to do them all. But at least you don't have to take the glove box out.
When I got mine it had 50 years of leaves, pine needles and dirt in there. Had to clean up any way so shop vac and leaf blower did the trick...�� |

Thank you all for the responses. I have a Shop-Vac so I think I'll try that method. I had parked my truck under an enormous tree and we had a big wind storm and it made all the leaves fall out of the tree down onto the truck. It only took about a day for all those leaves to accumulate inside the ducting.

I find it easier to remove the instrument cluster to gain access.

Might want to consider some type of screen on the underside of the cowl. Some of us have made our own, and they are also available from vendors.

Porch screen hot glued to under side of cowl to prevent crap from getting into this area. I used the fiberglass black screen.
