Re: I saw this on the road today

It would be funny if he had some buddies that stuck that on there and he didn't know it.

Anyone know where that flag is from? That might explain it. Everyone has their vice.

Re: I saw this on the road today

This might sound new age-y or whatever. But I feel sorry for people that need attention so badly, or need to belong or connect so badly. To do something that reflects so poorly on you, just to show that you stand with somebody else who's similarly made a bad decision - what must it feel like to live your life that way?

The essence of this hobby for me is having something that I like, that can take me where I need to go or let me enjoy going somewhere that I want to go. That getting there and going there is fun. I think putting stuff like that on a vehicle is the antithesis of actually enjoying it. It is just a sign board for their struggles and maybe even insecurities. You got to think - is that something you really want to advertise?

I imagine these people are looking for a response. Maybe we need a windshield banner that says "You Are What You Eat", complete the circle for them

Re: I saw this on the road today

At first, I thought it was making fun of the silliness that is going on in society today. It seems like everything is out there and for some reason people have to be sure you know what they are and force you to accept it.
Now, I'm not so sure? As a one-off, I could believe that, as a trend to follow? that changes things.

I sure hope there is never an electric car that has the privilege of having an SS behind its name.

My grandfather always wore white "wife beaters'. He had the guns to pull it off. And always had a Lucky Strike in his mouth. He was a tough old guy.

He looked like Mr. Clean with a bad attitude. You didn't mess with grandpa. Even if he was smiling you still took a step back.

Re: I saw this on the road today

Relatedly, I've noticed a polarization of two big subsets of the special interest automobile / truck ownership set. There are those who own the vehicles out of genuine interest and can appreciate most iterations of the hobby built by genuine enthusiasts. There is another subset that seems to be growing that wants a special interest automobile for the purpose of catching other people's attention. Most of us like it when other people like what we drive and work on. But there is a big difference in the attitude and actions of those who mainly want a cool car so other people can see them in it. S-K, I think you've got it right in calling out the need for attention.

Like a neglected child that acts up to get scolded. Might be negative attention but beats a blank in their mind.

Seems like a fancy way to say the old fashioned (somewhat of an insult) "Built not bought"
