So true. We're dry as a bone here. The lake keeps getting smaller. Hopefully the predicted rain tomorrow will help. But they said it was going to be 91 today and it was 101.

Nope. You should have been an economist. If you lined up all the economists in the world end-to-end, they would all point in different directions.

Re: This weather

Looks like there's a hurricane brewed up off of Baja, Mexico that should bring rain to the L.A. basin. Hopefully it will but hopefully not too much all at once

Re: This weather

It was overcast here all morning Thursday so we got a little break from the heat. If it rains in this heat it'll be like Florida.

Re: This weather

Getting into the 50s at night now. It's flannel shirt in the morning time, or leather weather as bikers call it. Days noticeably shorter now. I've noticed the lower angle of the sun already. parts of my place that are full sun all summer are shaded part of the day as the sun passes behind the huge maple tree. Seems odd with that it could be pushing 100* in the past couple weeks but that's the weather

Re: This weather

It was in the low 90's here yesterday. A welcome relief from the 100+ days and it's supposed to keep cooling down.

It's funny how 10 degrees can make such a difference.

Edison still kept texting me telling me that the sky is failing. I wish that I could reply. I'd tell them not to bother me because I'm busy shopping for an EV as requested,

You could tell them you are using so much electricity because you are allowing homeless people living in their electric cars to charge up.

Re: This weather

WE GOT RAIN !!!!

Not much but it did pour for a bit. Hopefully it will help with the fires up north.

I was driving by the lake today and it's pathetic.

I should have rolled up the windows on the car.

Re: This weather

Whoa, 40! That's getting close to frosty. We are hitting mid-50s some nights and in higher areas it may get into the 40s tonight. Nice this week, dry air and around 80. They say next week will be hotter, about 90.

It's cooling off here as well. I almost put on trousers instead of shorts when I took the dog for a walk. It's about 20 degrees cooler around here. I like that.

80's during the day and lows in the 60's best weather in months this pre fall weather is great , I'm ready for 70's during the day . Sunny every day this week . The lower electric bills are helping with the crazy gas/ food prices , I feel for the people in the northern states paying for heat this winter .

79 here today. Air conditioner is finally off. It's about time. Now I just have to pay my electricity bill for last month. $623.00 and that's with my 25% discount. That's going to sting a little. Okay. A lot.

Speaking of hydro bill
I thought mine was to high in the summer months , I have the pool pump that runs steady the wife hangs out the laundry , I bbq a lot and there is just two of us and the dog, she doesn't use hydro(the dog) and it was $140 so I put the pool pump on a timer 12 hours on 12 hours off get the next months bill and no difference WTF
Ok so last month I set the timer on the pool for it to run 24 hours and I got my latest bill couple days ago $160 their crooking me
Thanks for letting me vent the wife got sick of listening to me about it

Re: This weather

Our electric was over $400. I think it was over $500 one month two years ago when it was 118º in the shade. We always try to be thrifty, to the point of quite a bit of discomfort. It's cooled off, so that's good. We'll see. We're going to get a new roof soon, and I'll have some insulation laid underneath that. That would be the best time for it.

I will be the first to admit that I blasted that air conditioner. I knew it was going to be a high bill. I've lived in places with no A/C. I didn't care for it.

I try to be thrifty as well. Who wants a high bill? But when do you fold? When you're sitting in a puddle of sweat with a wet towel on your head. No thanks. Been there. Done that.

And as far as those ridiculous EV's are concerned. They can kiss the smelly part of my anatomy. This heat wave is just a prime example of how bad of an idea it is to shove them down everyone's throat's. It's not going to work. We can barely keep the power on now. We have almost 40 million people in California alone. What happens if everyone plugs in EV's at the same time? We're going to blow a fuse. They're already blowing fuses without the added strain on the system.

If some tree hugger knocks out my air conditioner plugging in his EV, then I'm going throw my warm beer at him.

Re: This weather

We moved into our current house 1 year ago this October. It has an array of 32 solar panels. They were bought and paid for by the previous owner (I wouldn’t have bought them )

I’ve NEVER had an electric bill, only credit each month since the system produces more than what we consume. There are of course taxes and connectivity fees, blah blah, and they are consistent at $32.

My pool equipment runs 12 hours (9pm-9am) a day, my AC is set at 78 and has run 24/7 for the past two months. The AC unit is a 5 ton, 16 seer (whatever that means ) and the house is 3100 square feet. I don’t pay for electricity, so I don’t care how often it runs. I’ve never been without power, despite rolling blackouts, etc. If needed I still have a generator in the shed and gasoline to power it.

I don’t like electric vehicles but it is inevitable that I will own one in the future. It will be nice to plug it in at home essentially for free (at least for daily driving). Solar isn’t the answer for everyone obviously, but it is when you live here.

Re: This weather

Yikes, you guys have some high bills. Must have some old inefficient A/C systems. Mine is very efficient, yet I am not pleased with my $250 electric bill. Has doubled in the last two years. Normally keep the house around 72 but raised to 76-78 through this heat wave. @ Steeveedee hoping the repair drops your bills some.
Saw a post about A/C ability. Check out the pic, being conservative as the powers that be asked, it will bring the temp lower. A two speed 3 ton A/C unit in a 1500 sq ft house. Installation know how is key to efficiency.
