Little Help getting my facts straight - trying to order Raceline wheels

Alright Fellas,

Im currently deployed to Afghani-suck...with the time change and the crappy location it's make it VERY hard for me to find a phone that works to call Allied Wheels (RACELINE) so Im doing all this through email. I want to make sure I get exactly what I need.

Val is very being patient with me, but I dont think they (nor I) are as up to speed on these trucks as many of you are.....so help me out here, please

I have a 1967 C10.

It has 6 lug rotors which I believe is 6x5.5, right?

They are saying they should be 5 lug, Im trying to explain that the 5 lug wheels didnt come out until 71-72ish (?) when they swapped to disk brakes.

I'm also trying to figure out how to explain the difference between the 1.25" and 1" rotors and the thicker snout (snub...?? what the hells that called, the part that sticks out on the face of the rotor).

Can yall verify my data and give me any input on exactly how I should explain what I want, so I dont get a set of billets delivered that wont fit my truck without some kind of mod. I know I can grind that snout down but I want something that fits, especially when Im spending billet wheel prices.

Just for the picture whores like myself, I've decided to go with the Raceline Deceptive 6s. I think they'll flow nicely with the rounded off lines of these trucks.

Re: Little Help getting my facts straight - trying to order Raceline wheels

Well the orders been placed....Hopefully not jinx'n myself here but Ive been dealing with Ms. Val and she's been awesome!

Im overseas, so Ive had to do it all through email...so I know it's been kind of a pain for them going back and forth with questions/answers.

Raceline Deceptive 6s 20x8.5 and 22x10....I cant wait to get home from this **** hole!

Definately mark Afghanistan off your vacation spots...

Re: Little Help getting my facts straight - trying to order Raceline wheels

Just noticed this one, First let me say Thank You for your service. You guys and gals kick major a** and we do appreciate every minute.

Looks like you have the wheels, bolt pattern and backspacing perfect (to me)

The rotors being 1.25" vs 1" This is the thickness of the disk. A.k.a. Heavy Duty rotor (F44) option. IF the rotors are 1.25 they have bigger bearings in them too, which would equate to a larger center bore on the wheel. From your picture up top I am assuming you have 1" rotors / 6 lug disc ? ('cause it still fits in the original bore of the wheel)

.. just my thoughts on it.

Your truck is sick and will be ridiculous with those wheels. Good luck with it man, and get home safe.

Later..

Best of my knowledge 6-lug rotors are all 1-1/4 in thick.

Re: Little Help getting my facts straight - trying to order Raceline wheels

Well that's a long story......

I'll give you the Short Version, I would NEVER deal with them again.

I'll also give you the Long version so you can decide for yourself. I have the email traffic reflecting the events below at the house so my dates might be off just a tad.

First week of March I started the order with Val from Allied Wheel (Raceline)

On 6 March we had worked out the details and I made the 1/2 down deposit.

On 9 March I received the (email) receipt for the deposit.

A few weeks later I was emailed (deployed to Afghanistan) by Val and asked to pay the balance so they could ship my wheels. I sent her my C/C info again and received a receipt for the FULL PAYMENT.

Couple weeks later, I still had not received my wheels so I called Val to check the status. At this time, Val's attitude went in the dumps....I wont go into that but basically I was told they were behind and that my wheels would not shipped until I paid. I forwarded her the email receipt showing I had already paid. She said, well they will go out tomorrow then.

Couple weeks goes by and I hadnt received my wheels.....I again called Val and with the same attitude, she said that my wheels were being welded that day and polished later that week. I expressed my concern because approx a month earlier she had requested payment so the wheels could be shipped. She wouldnt respond to that, except to say they are in welding and will be polished later in the week.

Another week goes by and we're now getting close to the show I ordered the wheels for....I again called to check status and again I was told they were in production.

Another 2 or so weeks goes by and I call to check status and possibly cancel my order due to lack of shipment. Val spoke with Chuck and whoever actually builds the wheels. They agreed to get the wheels done that day and get them expressed shipped to me. Well I received the wheels but because now I had ran out of time to get them mounted/balanced kinda crap, I scraped the plans to take my truck to Scrapin the Coast.

Being the truck wasnt ready, I put the wheels in my garage (in the box) for a few months. When I finally pulled them out to have the tires mounthed, we noticed that one of the wheels was cracked on the inner part of the wheel. I called Val to check the protocol to get this fixed and she again had a HORRIBLE attitude said I needed to wait till the following week because the guys were at Sema. She said, I'd need to call back because she'd forget to call me.

This pissed me off but I again called Val to see what they wanted me to do. She said I'd have to pay to ship them back and they'd decide if their going to fix the wheel or not and if they would reimburse me for shipping.

That was 2 weeks ago....I have not received anything from Allied Wheel regarding my wheels.....

I'm going to try to call (the very UNpleasant) Val today to check the status.

OK, I was wanting some Racelines eventually, but it looks like I may look at Intros or Billet Specialties, now. I hate to hear about your troubles with them.

BTW, thank you for your service!
