All 6 of those I don't have are super rare. The green/black one goes for $100+ on eBay.

Only the gold one in my last post is a current (2014) release.

1badgmc have you seen the military rods version mentioned in this article? It has some great pics of some models I need.

It's the gray one I posted before in this pic. Extremely rare. I've never even seen one on eBay for sale.

Thanks, I remember seeing that one before. I guess I was expecting it to be Army green.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

I scored some older Hot wheels, another Big Sur and a couple of Hong Kong versions at a local flea market this weekend. I'll get some pics later. One of the versions I have is in a post that BigBlock posted early in this thread I believe. It's from 77-79. I'm going to order the other versions if I can find them.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

Here are some of the used ones I picked up this past weekend. I got them along with several others for $20.

These two are dated for 1982. One has stock wheels and the other has rubber Goodyears.

This truck is called Bywayman. The metallic blue ones you found, both the Real Rider version and the basic wheel version, are from 1983.

http://www.southtexasdiecast.com/hwguide/bywayman.html

A note about the date on the bottom of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. The date stamped on the base is not a production date. It is a copyright date for that casting. In most cases, the copyright date is one year before the casting's first release, but sometimes the copyright and original release year match up.

Thanks for the link. That's a real interesting site. I know nothing about collecting or how to identify what I have. But it seems like I'm going Hot Wheels crazy everytime I go to the store. I've seen some of those on the treasure hunt page and now I want them.

If you're curious about a car, send me a PM or something and I can probably help you out. Between my childhood play days and my adult collecting days, I've been into Hot Wheels (and Matchbox) since the day I was born, so I have 37 years of experience with them.

This one is called Super Scraper. They took the Bywayman body and put it on top of a slightly modified base with a plow on the front. This particular one you found is the first release from 1980. Later in the run it was called Power Plower.

Here's the Ja-Ru Hong Kong versions.

Not sure about this one. It's similar but it kinda looks like a Dodge to me.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

I picked up a few more this weekend at a local tractor show/swap meet. A matchbox blazer 4x4 and a Nylint Trailblazer black/yellow stamped model for a whopping total of a dollar. I also got a couple of Big Surs again.

Where did you get the cop rods from? EBAY? I've been looking at ordering the cop rods, milatary and fire silverado but I can't find them all together. I've also been looking for some Maisto G Ridez online but I'm coming up short or don't want to pay the inflated prices.

flashed, I need to get a few more of the yellow trucks and a gold one if I can find it.

Yeah, eBay. You likely won't find a set with the 3 together. The Cop Rods truck is the easy one, but they're still not cheap. I haven't seen a Fire Rods Silverado on eBay in a LONG time. I just saw a Military Rods Silverado on there for $152.
