Anyone here into motorcycles??

Just thought there would be a few guys and gals that like to ride...
I have two Harleys right now, been riding since I was 15, when we were building mini bikes and riding them through the alleys of Chicago.
I think I need to buy another bike, maybe a HD Low Rider S or an Indian, just not sure. Also looking at that BMW R18, but I heard it is made for smaller riders.

Currrntly riding a 2018 Road Glide Special and my GF usually rides the other bike, a 2000 Fatboy.

Re: Anyone here into motorcycles??

I think I've had about 7 bikes and built a few HDs so yes, interested. Riding is pretty dangerous these days since most drivers, even on bikes, are functionally blind.

Re: Anyone here into motorcycles??

Nice bikes for you two to enjoy. I've been a rider and have had bikes in my blood most of my life. My first was a Triumph and the rest have been American iron. My interest has faded a lot from where it once was. Just not all wrapped up in it like I was, but still love the bikes just as much. When it comes to the biker thing, I tell people "It's just a motorcycle". There is endless riding here where it is as safe as ever. Deer are your main concern. I can't tell you the last time I rode in or near a city or into the suburbs.

The only bagger I've owned was a '67 FLH. I have one bike and I bought it new, a '90 FLST. So that was the last year for the Plain Jane Heritage Softail and the first year for the Fat Boy. They later brought the stripped Heritage back as the Deluxe. Over the years it's been through some changes. I have saddlebags, another seat, and windshield if I need them. I just ride solo... both saddle type and just me and my bike. It's seldom I ever ride with others. I putt/tour the countryside getting lost and take two-lane hiways mostly, not that it hasn't rolled out miles of interstate under it as well. It's a bar hopper you can ride all day. It was originally Bright Candy Plum and it got Black Cherry with ghost flames on new sheet metal. Did that paint three times, I should say. So I went to practical black.

Shoot. After typing all that I went to post a picture I don't have any on this computer! I've shown it before in other motorcycle threads. I really do have one

Re: Anyone here into motorcycles??

If you want another bike I would get something with a kick start. Like a cool old panhead or something earlier. It will be worth more in the long run then any of them new bikes.

Re: Anyone here into motorcycles??

You are in a great area to try other styles of bikes than cruisers. They are nice to put miles on but very limited in my experience. BMW makes a slew of light and well suspended bikes for when the pavement ends.

Re: Anyone here into motorcycles??

Fairly late in life biker here. Started riding about 6 years ago. Started out with a Triumph Bonneville SE (Modern Classic fuel injected one).

I picked up my '14 Triumph Thunderbird Commander (1700 parallel twin.) about 4 years ago. It's a great bike.

Scared to admit it, but own a Honda Cruiser. It was my 40th birthday gift from my wife. I enjoy riding it when I can.

I wish I could help you out with that, Dale. Mostly I'm sorry you had to make that decision. Sure is a nice bike.

I found this picture of my '90 FLST in my "People/Family" folder. This was taken at a bike show around '95 or '96. That's my son (in all three pictures). Sorry about the glare. It was a snap shot of the enlarged print on my b/r wall

Yup, I like bikes. Street bikes, adventure bikes, bar hoppers, long haulers, choppers, bobbers, brats, street trackers, sport bikes, dirt bikes, dual sports, trail bikes, scooters, trikes and quads.
I like bikes.

I keep thinking I need an FXR next.

Hey, that’s pretty cool - I did some reading on the Boozefighters, pretty cool club. Probably the only one I would ever consider being a part of. Do you know Robert Patrick?

Hell yeah, love the FXR. Been kinda looking around for one, not too easy to find though, people want a lot for those. Probably one of the best bikes around. Also really like the Low Rider S, 2016-2017.

Nothing wrong with the Honda cruisers. I had a Yamaha Roadstar a while back, pretty damn good bike.

I like my C10's. Bought Connie in 2003. Was going to give sport/touring a try. Guess I liked it, as this one is still hauling my tail around 17yrs later.

Thanks, I have to admit I like the BMW the best. That old bike will still do 110mph and is as reliable as can be. I'm not afraid to ride it any where. The Indians are fun to work on and great to look at but they can be a pain to tune. Riding them is a whole lotta fun. The 41 has a left hand throttle, right hand spark advance, left foot clutch and suicide shifter on the right hand. The 43 has a right hand throttle, left hand spark advance, left foot clutch and suicide shifter on the left hand. It's more like driving a lawn tractor than a motorcycle.

Got a buddy in Memphis with an old Indian (don't remember the year), a 1917 Harley, and is working on a compete show room for 1939 Harley's. He also has a Fabrique Nationale motorcycle from about 1912 or so. Cool old stuff for sure.

I started on two wheels when I was six but have not owned one in a few years. However, like these old trucks I have rescued a few.

My son on his 1974 Honda Elsinore MR50 and a 1978 Honda XL100 I restored for a buddies wife. Her first bike that her father bought her when she was a kid.
