Just about ready for wheels and tires. S10 Frame swap

Can I get some tire and wheel ideas? Pictures, name of wheel and sizes are helpful.
Thanks!

Re: Just about ready for wheels and tires. S10 Frame swap

what is your budget?

what size are you leaning towards?

I have used everything from 15" steels and poverty caps on the low cost end (~400 with tires) to custom width and backspacing mobsteel 20s with powdercoat and custom GMC caps on the high end (~3600 with tires) and literally everything in between. things dont necessarily have to be expensive to look really good either

Here’s a fun toy to use to see what looks good. You can select wheels and suspension height plus body color.
If this link doesn’t have any you like just do a google search for ‘wheel visualizers’. There are lots of them.

Re: Just about ready for wheels and tires. S10 Frame swap

I'm just going to say don't let the wheels own the truck, They need to be a blended in contributing part of the whole look and not make the truck look like a background for a rim add.

Artillery wheels were never offered on AD trucks but so many late 30's 15 inch 3/4 ton Artillery wheels have been used on AD trucks for so long that some will argue but old or aftermarket they are a great look.

Five spokes are always cool, even a size or two larger I'm thinking this truck has 16's The wheels are almost too shiny and would overpower some trucks though. Right on the brink of making the truck a background here.

The two tone brown and tan truck is a prime example of gaudy rims owning the truck.

I'm not sure how this will work out as I am using both photos off the computer and photobucket.

The Blue truck shows that an original look with wheels that match the truck's paint and small stock or stockish caps always looks good. A guy could go though Wheelsmith or one of the other aftermarket wheel manufactures and go up an inch or two and still carry it off.

Most guys on here know that I am not much of a fan of big "rims" on AD trucks but Youngrodder's old green and black truck and Joedoe's subtle efforts show that you can carry it off quite well with the right wheels.

Re: Just about ready for wheels and tires. S10 Frame swap

Big wheels aren't for everyone, but I was pretty darn happy with my modern wheels on a bagged truck. Somewhat depends on the look you are going for. I wanted a street rod vibe so modern wheels and tires were the better choice.

If I recall these are 18" wheels front and back.

There more true-to-original gray spoke Torq Thrust with machined outer rim is THE best look on these truck in my opinion - and I don't even have them.

here is the steel wheel with dog dish and trim ring look, and you can paint the wheel when you want a different look.
