91 s10 t5 transmission

I was looking for a suitable replacement to make my 66 c10 a little more driveable. The sm420 works fine but its geared ungodly low. I've only ever used 1st gear once on a steep hill and I feel like I'm pushing it going over 55 or 60 as its running around 2500 -3000 rpms. I saw a few vids on YouTube making the t5 swap and it looks like a good option. Found a guy with a t5 in a 91 s10 2wd that's running and driving for $500. That sounds a bit high but maybe it's fair idk.

I'd agree that is a little high. I bought one for $300 that someone had already put new bearings and seals in. I'd say $200 is more reasonable for the run of the mill used T5

Also you need to see if it is a 2.5, 2.8 or 4.3 t5. They were switching to nv3500 in those years

Re: 91 s10 t5 transmission

I sold 2 mustang v6 t-5’s (priced together) for $350 earlier this spring. They were both cores, so for a running/driving good one… maybe $300-$350?
