A relative brought this Key looking thing to our family reunion this past weekend and ask all that were there what is it ?

Re: How was this device used for ?
It's called a thing?? Also known as I have absolutely no idea.
But it looks cool. Now I'm curious as well. I would guess it's for some sort of machinery. Like a key or something.

Choo Choo!
Chuga, chuga, chuga! Choo Choo! Thought I’d seen one and used one before. It’s the switch handle for locomotives. When left unattended the handle was removed from the console and locked in a safe box so the loco couldn’t be moved by unauthorized people. https://railheadcorp.com/product/ke-rhf2n/ |

We just call them utility knives. I had no idea what a box cutter was until after the 9/11 attacks. You should start a thread asking what that other thing is

Re: How was this device used for ?
We had the one like you have in our yard loco. Pic of him here.
We called him ‘old snort’. Our other yard loco had the same handle. He was ‘little snort’. They wee both mid sixties origin. http://www.railpictures.ca/upload/an...r-with-three-c http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/ctr2034.jpg The newer loco’s had the plastic handle. Those built in the 80’s to 90’s. |
