Installing POL Coilovers

Fixing to install the coilovers & tubular a-arms form POL on my 69 gmc truck.

The template the sent with the coilovers fits great on the passenger side and the shock hole is cut out the entire coil spring area is removed.

On the drivers side while the template fits, all of the coil spring pocket is not in the opening on the template to cut out. It appears that some of the spring pocket rise will be left and the coilover mount will not set flush.

Before I make any cuts, I am asking is this correct? Hope I'm explaining this clear enough.

Re: Installing POL Coilovers

Well, w/o images we can only speculate on things.

My logic is the bracket (upper mount) has to sit flush on the 'pad' of the original x-member. If trimming more from the x-member pad allows the bracket to sit flush & still allows adequate room for the hardware/mounting flange, I would trim it off.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Thanks- that's what I'm thinking.
I'll see if I can get a good picture to help out.

Sounds good.

Since both the horizontal & vertical plains of the upper bracket need to sit flush w/the x-member & side of the frame, trimming whatever is necessary to accomplish that w/o infringing on the mounting hardware/flange areas seems harmless (as far as minimizing structural integrity).

Re: Installing POL Coilovers

well I finally got through to POL and they forwarded me to the vendor for the coilovers and they said just trim it out so the mount sits flush.

Thanks

Now you've piqued my curiosity.... Who was the vendor?
