Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
Have a 1969 C 10 I've had since probably 1980 . Late Father in Law bought it new . Think it had about 100,000 on it when I got it . Just looked and it has 260,664 on it now . Stock as a stove except for the shifter I put in the floor . Don't drive it much , maybe twice a month . Like others have said I have to pump the gas when I first start it . Been a good truck ! Thanks !

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
Zero, came to the house via tow truck and I immediately started to tear it done.
Motor is a 350 and well as the transmission. The rest of the truck is a mix of years and mods.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
120,183 miles over 52 years. Usage was reduced significantly in 1980 when we bought a family friendly Blazer. Then, in 1987, we bought a 1986 dually crew cab. After that the '69 pretty much sat in the garage until 2010 when I started the frame off resto. I have added about 1500 miles since I finished the resto in 2014. It drives better now than when it was new.

Another zero miles here too but it's getting closer.

Not enough! Maybe 500 miles since it became drive-able last year

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
About 48K on my C10 since I bought it in 1989. The engine was rebuilt 40K ago, in 1993.
Not sure on my C20 in the rough, which I've owned five years this month if I remember right. I'd say 6-7K, I drive it 1-2 times a week, though it's my favorite driver over a newish Subaru & Tundra.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
I bought my 70 in 1989. All stock 350/350 Both my boys drove it to High School
When I got it back I dropped a 454 in it along with Ford 9” and Detroit Locker It was Fun but not enough so I injected it, Lots of Fun. 12 years later an LS1 with 6 speed manual came along as did Vintage air a smooth firewall and complete coil over suspension. As for how many miles I’ve never really kept track. It’s my daily driver but I’m retired so I’ve nowhere to go and all day to get there

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
My family acquired my "72 in 1982 as the third owner. We knew the previous 2 owners (small town) and were told it had 150K miles on it when we got it. The next year it became mine after high school, and was my DD until 1992. Since then it has been driven just on occasion, and home depot runs, etc... It now has 256K+ on it. Still the original engine, tranny and rear end. None of that has been rebuilt. Cranks a while after sitting before firing up, but immediately after having driven it some. Smokes a bit too, but runs good enough for me, and what I use it for. Rebuilt the carb, and added HEI. Both have made a world of difference in starting and running...

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
I'm driving carbureted regularly! I drive my 1969 CST/10 pickup probably about 5000 miles per year. Not only is it my daily driver, but I got rid of my modern car about 4 years ago. I have a short commute and my wife has a modern car and we usually use that modern car when we go somewhere together. Sometimes I drive my truck a few hundred miles to go to the Dallas or San Antonio areas, and sometimes I load it full of stuff I need to haul. I have A/C as of last month so starting to use the truck even more. It has the rebuilt 350 engine with a "modern" Quadrajet carburetor from 1985 and GM HEI distributor, and rebuilt TH400 transmission with no overdrive. I had the plain non-tilt steering column shortened and that sure was a huge comfort upgrade. I'm working on getting an original AM radio going in it. I look forward to getting the radio going because I'm waiting to put in a new full size glove box so I can have some room to work in the dash area. I like to have a full size glove box, so that's why I selected Original Air for the A/C instead of one of the you-no-longer-have-a-useful-glovebox A/C vendors. I'm collecting parts to change the front brakes from drum to stock 71-72 manual disc brakes.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
My 71 4x4 has 523.000.0 on the clock, half a million. and it a daily driver. I still have all the paper work from the day I bought it. July 20 1971. Its been a great truck and if it blew up tomorrow I couldn't complain. I ordered the truck so it has custom instead of k 10. It still has the original 350 and transfer case. Trans has been rebuilt once and that was just a year ago. I have had people try to buy it from me but its not for sale. I told the wife when I go, just put me in the seat, Reba on the tape deck, lower me into the hole, truck and all.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
About 2 miles since I got it in May 2019. It had been a non-runner sitting in a shed for over 12 years when I got it. Now it has made a few trips around the yard and two trips to the far cul de sac in the neighborhood under its own power.
My plan is to finish up the bed, work on the doors and interior this winter and be ready for spring with a road worthy truck. Won't be slick or pretty, but I can drive it at least.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
Thanks for all the responses!
My friends and I got together over the weekend and I showed your posts to my doubting buddy and he just shook his head. He can't understand why people still use carburetors. I will say he's not the most mechanically minded guy around so that may contribute to his mindset. And kudos to all you high-milers out there! The whole group was awed by how many miles these 50 plus year old trucks have gone and that they are still are going strong! If I had had more foresight I would have put a poll in this thread. Dhhooo! Thanks again!

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
I am one of those who must answer not enough. In the heat of the summer here in Texas w no air, i just can't do it anymore. However, fall is coming so more miles to come. Crate 350 and carb.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
It's probably all that having to wave back at everyone giving you the Thumbs Up that's causing you to get overheated.
That's one sharp looking truck!

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
Over 100K in 21 years, most of them with the 250/3OTT combo. Now has a 402/TH400 with an Edelbrock carb and intake, mild cam, Hedders, 2.5 Pypes SS system with electric cutouts. Engine and trans have both been rebuilt (by me) and the engine has about 700 miles and the trans has about 200. The 3.73 open diff is original as far as i know, with about 225K on it.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
I bought mine in 1992 from the original owner it had 62,000 when I got it's going to be rolling 130,000 in the next few weeks. Rebuilt the engine and trans almost 20 years ago 350/350 with a 3.08.

2400 miles in 3 days. About 1000 in the 4 years since then.

Re: How many miles have you driven your truck?
I could assemble the info to get how many miles I've put on the '72 K2500 but not sure off hand. I've had it since Memorial Day '01 when I drove it cross-country. At first I had a lot of trucks and that one didn't get driven much. I did a few cosmetic things like seat cover, steering wheel, dash pad, and put 16.5 x 9.75 steelies on it. It had steering play and I replaced the tie-rods and ball joints. The problem was in the tie rod threads, so I replaced that. I didn't do anything else or drive it much for about the first five or so years, except new exhaust in '04. I guess around '06/'07 I started driving it more and going deeper after steering play, steering box and all. Suspension needed help, too, so I did new springs, shocks, and it's first new set of tires about five years ago, along with new brakes, and wheel bearings, and such. After that I was putting 7,000 - 8,000 a year on it until last year. I'd guess by now since '01 I've put at least 60,000 on it.
