Our 1965 K10 Suburban Project

I had noticed a early Suburban parked in a gated towing/storage yard by my house for a couple of months. Finally I drove by and the gate was open so I stopped. In speaking with the guy who owned it, it was removed from someones property. The new owner planned to cut the top off and make it into a "hunting rig". I was able to change his mind and spent more than what I thought I should but I hated to know the potential fate.

The original owner had passed and his son was cleaning the property. The old man must have been a hoarder...the truck was packed with junk. We were able to find the OG owners manual and the warranty card.

Our plan is to get it running and driving, test the 4wd and see whatever else it needs. After that I will move on to some type of build and plan to do a separate thread.

My first question.......is the brake master cylinder the same on a 4wd Burb as a 4wd 1/2t truck? From what I can tell it is but want to make sure before I order one....

I could not say for certain they are the same but one option would be to pull the original and match it up with a new one at your go-to local parts store or, try to match it up online as best as you can. Have you tried checking on Rock Auto yet? btw - great looking K10!

Re: Our 1965 K10 Suburban Project

It's crazy....I use the Rockauto catalog quite a bit. They list nothing for brakes on a K10 Suburban. I will remove i and figure out the bore. The rest looks the same....

Thanks!

Most everything from the B pillars forward on a Suburban and Panel is the same as a truck. Just a few minor differences. The master cylinder should be the same as a truck. While you are changing the master, I would suggest changing it for a '67-'70 master with a dual reservoir. You will have to run one new hardline but it will be safer.
