Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

I've been posting occasion pics of my project related to what ever I was needing advice on at the time, etc., but now that it's finally done I thought I'd post some pics of the entire project. It was 2 1/2 years in the making but over a year of that was at the body shop. I bought the truck as a basket case, a 65 GMC. The frame had been cleaned and painted and the cab had been at a reputable body shop to be prepped for paint. It came with two boxes and I also bought a parts truck. The 5.3LS motor I got from a written off 2008 Chev Tahoe that had only 69000km (43000 miles). My apologies for the ones that are upside down. I finally figured out which way to hold my iphone.

Re: Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

Picked up some 2008 Odyssey second row seats. I ended up recessing the mounts to gain more headroom. (I'm 6'3) They can be popped out of the truck by just pulling a release handle.I removed the handles on the back of the seats so they would go back further and removed the inner arm rests. Console is from a newer Silverado.

Re: Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

I used an in cab recirculating heater because I didn't like the Deluxe heater in the engine bay. I had to modify the glove box because it was hitting the heater assembly.

Re: Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

I applied vinyl stripe. The truck had no trim holes so we didn't know where to paint the stripe.

Re: Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

I used an Art Carr/Winters shifter. Cable actuated made it easier to position. It also has neutral safety and reverse switches.

Went with a Dakota Digital universal dash with BIM module. Just plugs into the OBD II port.

Tanks Inc USPT-GH 15 gallon gas tank. I was going to fill up the middle thruogh the wood but ended up using the fill neck on the side, through the frame, to the corner of the box.

Re: Bigmoe's 65 GMC10 project.

Filler in the corner of the box. Filling it is slowed, probably because of the 45 degree elbow, but it's not too bad.
