Need Radiator Hose Help

Just dropped a Champion 3-Row Aluminum Radiator into my dad's 66. The biggest problem now is that the upper outlet is 1-3/4" instead of what should be 1-1/2". We have tried to dig in the parts houses hoses for a match but have had no luck. Does anyone have the numbers for the upper and lower hoses? The new rad. does have the outlets in the stock location. We are also using the lower holes for the mounting cradles.

Thanks

Re: Need Radiator Hose Help

I bought one of those chrome type hoses that are ribbed and they come with short filler sleeves for a setup that has one end smaller than the other.
So possibly you can buy a 1 3/4" hose and take a a small piece of your previous 1 1/2" hose and stick in inside the end of the 1 3/4" hose and clamp it down. I'm thinking that it would fill the 1/8" void on each end of the diameter.
I think that will work?!?!?!

Thanks Taz. Dad is wanting to stay with the OE style black rubber hoses if possible. I like the hoses your talking about but he is still really old skool, LOL.

Re: Need Radiator Hose Help

Actually, What gave me the idea was my own hose setup.

Just use the "black" 1 3/4 black hose and cut off a piece of the original black 1 1/2" hose and put it inside the end of the 1 3/4 hose the mates up to the 1 1/2" fitting.

I see what you are saying now. That is an option for sure. I will look into that. Thanks

Re: Need Radiator Hose Help

I ran into the same issue with my replacement NAPA radiator and just wound up using a universal ribbed flex hose for the upper, I can get you the NAPA part # if you need it...

Re: Need Radiator Hose Help

Thanks guys. We actually found the right shape hose and just sleeved it over a short piece to fill the gap on the thermostat housing. Worked out real nice.

Re: Need Radiator Hose Help

So before I order one.... am I to assume, based on comments here, that the "direct replacement" Champion radiator is in fact not really "direct"?
