3/4 ton frames...question

I am currently trying to purchase a 66 suburban. The owner wont be able to show it to me for a couple of days. I can tell from the pictures, that it is 8 lug, so I assume its a 3/4 ton. Are these frames taller that the 1/2 ton? Would the trailing arm suspension be standard on a 3/4 ton, or would it be leaf springs?

The reason I ask is I have a 61 truck that i just finished with all new 78 chevy crossmember/rear end/ 5lug combo I installed. I would like to move this over to the burb, but want to have some idea of what getting a 3/4 ton chassis involves.

I have asked the owner, but the truck is at a different location and they cant check for a day or two.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 3/4 ton frames...question

You can switch a C20 over to a C10 using the '71-'87 suspension. You didn't say if the '66 Suburban in question is a Chevy or a GMC. The GMC's could have either leafs or coils in the rear. Being as it's a C20 my guess would be on leafs if it is a GMC.

Re: 3/4 ton frames...question

This suburban is in fact a chevy. I was able to convince the owner to let me look at it later today, I'll know exactly what im dealing with very soon.

Thanks for the info.
