Under hood color

Was the bottom side of the hood painted black from the factory or the exterior color? 1972 Cheyenne super.

Re: Under hood color

For what it is worth

I went to a truck and car show couple years ago.
This guy had this truck in the pictures below.

He said that it was restored with NOS parts.
That everything was restored to it original condition.
I wish I would have took a Picture of the sign beside it
It had the Name of the Person/Business that done the work.

His under hood was factory color. Also had all the crayon marks everywhere.

Re: Under hood color

What an incredibly impressive job. Knowing how hard it is to restore these vehicles, that truck stands out.
Thanks for posting the pictures!

Re: Under hood color

I have 8 of these trucks kicking around 70-72. My 71 Blazer has the largest amount of body color on the underside. All the rest of them only have light overspray around the edges.

Re: Under hood color

All of my trucks just have overspray on the hoods underside. Most vehicles are technically over restored. They never looked that good from the factory . My 68 stepper has runs on the dash and firewall . My 72 is the same on the firewall

Re: Under hood color

So light overspray would be the consensus.

That's kinda why I stated for what it worth

He had a Very nice truck
He had mirrors underneath.

The bed wood had GM part number stickers on them.

Re: Under hood color

Thanks for posting this. Was always curious if it was original black or body color!
