Exhaust emission control information

Hi all

I found this decal in the windshield of my truck and would like to print a new one. Is there a professional here to rebuild it?

Re: Exhaust emission control information

Should've been on the core support. Windshields get broken and replaced. Don't know about any vendor redoing these personally

It is very simple just to transfer the information by computer and just print it

Yes, it's actually a very rare truck, it's the original windshield

Re: Exhaust emission control information

I know that decal. Was your truck originally sold in CA? Had CA emissions equipment?

GM added those decals to trucks sold in CA. These are reproduced for other models but done wrong and not designed to to inside the window.

Yes, this is true. My truck is from California. Is it possible to take a clear picture of it up close so that the person can make an exact copy?

Re: Exhaust emission control information

That photo was from a CL ad and is all I have and was on a C20 if I recall. It’s possible this decal is specific to 3/4t pickups but I can’t confirm that. Given that at least some passenger cars received these too it’s possible that 1/2t trucks did as well (or one that’s similar). Note the decal references “California Heavy Duty Standard” for what that’s worth.

Here’s a reproduction of a WA code decal designed for use on a Chevelle or Corvette. Cheap copy that isn’t an inner glass decal but could serve as template of sorts. It’s possible that other year passenger car reproductions may be truer to the WK example used for trucks.

I do have reproductions of the CA emissions specific LM code tuning decal that’s affixed to the inner fender under the hood. These are the only reproductions in existence but are for use on 350 equipped 1/2t pickups/K5s and I suspect 3/4t suburbans.

I appreciate it sir, I think I will make copies of the same size and give you my experience soon.

Dale would CHP actually flag motorists off the road for a snap inspection roadside?

Yes Pete, I don't remember if it was every vehicle or random. But, I do remember my parents being pulled in every now and then. The stickers changed colors every now and then...

Re: Exhaust emission control information

It was common to see roadside inspections by the CHP. They'd check your headlight aim, operation of all the lights, and look for obvious bypassing of emission controls. I always thought that the headlight aim part was bogus, because I don't expect that they would have calibrated the equipment for a non-level area. We had a designated spot for aiming headlights when I worked as a mechanic. It was set dead level as opposed to 1/8" per foot slope, like most driveways and such.
