1972 GMC ORIGINAL K10 SHORTY COMING HOME other PROJECT LEAVING?

Been looking for a solid original short bed 4x4, exhausted many hours trying to find the right one, final settled on a family owned from new 1969 2 wheel and brought home 2 weeks ago. Bought a donor k10 shorty for donor chassis, Low and behold yesterday I found my real nice original paint short bed 4x4, jumped on it quick and was able to buy.

Mixed feelings! Green Truck is absolutely beautiful paint and body and would like to build it! Would be sweet as a 4x4, Orange and white nice options and original and I have had owned an identical truck in past.

So trying to decide if i should still build green 69' and try and keep both or sell that project for someone else to build or leave a 2wd.

Its hard to find one of these trucks let alone two, any opinions? Also have a mint Highlander that will now be someone elses pride and joy.

Nice 4x4 you got there. I would build that one, and either sell the green one or build the green one as a 2wd.

You clearly need a 2wd and 4wd truck so better keep both.

You have good taste! All of us have different preferences for every model in the '67-72 series. Its hard to hold back and wait for that 100% exactly what your looking for i.e. ( model, 2 or 4wd,short, long, color, options, condition, mileage etc. ). More common for us is to build what we find to fulfil our dreams.

Re: 1972 GMC ORIGINAL K10 SHORTY COMING HOME other PROJECT LEAVING?

If you actually have an original SWB K10, why would you butcher up what looks like an unmolested all original SWB C10? I guess I don't understand why you'd waste your time and money when you already have something that looks really nice. This is from someone who has two projects going simultaneously. I'd kill to own one truck that looked good, was good to drive, and actually what I wanted, and I could stop spending most of my free time working on trucks.

In any event, they're your trucks so you can do what you want. But I concur with the others: you definitely have a nice fleet going.

Beautiful 4x4 . The green one in my opinion is to nice to modify my plan would be keep them all . If you decide to sell the other two please post them here first give someone on the board an opportunity to buy .

Is the highlander the one with the cap?

I think I need a green one .

I agree you should keep it, just won't find another one in the future. Also think you should keep it 2x4 and just enjoy it. They are great drivers.

Re: 1972 GMC ORIGINAL K10 SHORTY COMING HOME other PROJECT LEAVING?

69TOM,

Tom my intentions was to find a 4x4 SB when that failed I found the green 2wd being I purchased from original family and its condition it was going to be a easy conversion, I had every intention to convert as i really wanted a 4x4 SB and they are hard to find in nice condition. Now that the orange/white came along I dont have to mess it up. The green truck is a super sweet SB but unfortunetly I cant keep them all so 1 or 2 will need to go. The C20 highlander is also super clean all original factory 402 loaded and under the hood looks like new and that would be my first choice to let go.

This is my odd duck now but it too is a all original K2500, it has its little dents and dings but will never leave, the baby of the family always has a special place in the eye of the beholder.

If you can't keep the green 2wd, then post it on here. Let the bidding wars begin.

The other truck that I was using for frame is posted in for sale ads. 1972 Stepside. I was going to swap bodies and sell the step side as a 2 wheel drive.

I will get SPID Pic added as soon as I get it from hauler. When I was buying truck he had it on video. I sent hauler a text asking him next time he stops to snap a picture.

HERE IS THE BUILD SHEET WITH A PICTURE OF DOOR TAG THAT SHOULD TELL THE STORY.

Nice find. I don't know, seems you know what you're doing so restoring another isn't so bad. But by you asking I'd say sit on it a while, because it seems you're leaning get rid of it. If you were to keep it, good points I can't say less you have what you were looking for and the other is the 2WD SWB you otherwise wouldn't have.

Dang that Highlander is nice.
