No worries Nice job on the ID BTW.

1ton, motor 1 was a 283, motor 4 (the one in the pic) is just what warren says it is, Motor 2 or 3 could have been a 396. When you talk to the original owner, hopefully he can tell you.
One thing for sure, you guys are going to have a blast working on your truck. I love the 1ton's, and yours is very cool. Can't wait to see it as you guys progress.

Your cab corners have been replaced. Who ever did the job, did a good job, so maybe you can find them again.

Very nice truck man!

Thanks! yea it couldve been converted to a 396 before it was given to the guy with the excavating company, but i know for sure by '71 the original engine was gone. I'm an excellent welder so I wanna try and do the fabricating myself before I go pay to have it done, I checked the drip rail and it looks fine luckily and so does around the doors on both sides. I think the first thing we're gonna do is get rid of the flatbed, just to make more room, then after that we have no idea where to start. I'd like to call this the nut and bolt resto, so at some point everything will be attended to.

Re: Project: Retirement

decided to make a little more room and take the back board off, but also had to take the old tool boxes off to get to a couple bolts holding the backboard on the bed frame so i can measure the truck out for a vehicle tent so my neighbors dont have to look at it (not that i care) but also so we dont have to work out in the elements. the truck looks much smaller now, i dont think that back window has been exposed in 30 years haha.
