To bag or not!

I have a simple question. I'm thinking about converting to "Air bags" for my '70. My question is, do the "bags" make for an improvement in ride quality? I'm not interested in adjusting ride heights, just making everyday ride less bumpy. My suspension was fully rebuilt about 2 yrs. ago, with new Monroe gas shocks all around about 6 mo. ago. It still rides like a "truck". Yes, I know it IS a truck, but my almost 70 bones are taking a beating. So, is it worth the money to convert to "bags"?

YES....I bagged my 72 and very happy with it. Just for the ride it was well worth the investment . I am currently acquiring parts to bag my 63. Once you drive a properly set up bagged truck everything else rides like crap!! IMHO...I'm 58

I bought my 71 already bagged. This is my 4th 67-72. Bags are not for me. I like to cruise low profile. You can't cruise with the bags deflated. I removed the bags and went back to original suspension. Much happier. Maybe just me, but I've got a nearly new set of bags on the shelf in my garage that I will never use.

Sure you can. I had a 1960 Caddy that had "Air Ride Suspension". It would lower itself to the ground when not in use.

When you fire the car up, the compressor would start and raise the car to ride height.

Within an hour or so after shutting the car off it would bleed itself off and lower right back to the ground. There also was a dial & gauge inside of the car to set the max air pressure.

Good way to keep your vehicle from being towed or your tires and rims stolen also.

I bagged our 1968 Suburban. I hated it because I had a pressure based system for ride height adjustment. Trying to get the alignment set was impossible.

If your going to bag your truck I would highly recommend a air management system like Accuair with a ride height sensor.

In a properly setup air suspension, it will ride smoother. I think you will definitely see an improvement. The height sensors are a great add on, if budget allows. As mentioned, it does help with alignment. It also makes the system work very simply. Not to say setting the ride height by pressure is bad, as we have many customers go this route as well.
