Saginaw 4 Speed Conversion Parts List

Just acquired a 1970 C10 Fleetside. It has a 350 in it with 3 on the tree. Looking to eliminate the 3 on the tree with a used 4 speed Saginaw tranny from my buddy. Just was wondering what sorts of major things I'll be running into with swapping this in. I'm 99% positive that the tranny will bolt right up. Just wondering about drive shaft lengths, Yolks, Floor shifter location and things of that nature. Any advice and or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Saginaw 4 Speed Conversion Parts List

The Saginaw four speed and Saginaw three speed are the same case and overall length, so no issues with trans crossmember location or driveshaft length.

You'll need to decide what floor mounted four speed shifter you want to use (Hurst Indy or whatever) and decide how much of the column claptrap you want to strip off.

I removed the column shift handle and cut the remaining nub off the collar, placing my Sun tach on the column to cover the hole.

Re: Saginaw 4 Speed Conversion Parts List

Thanks a ton Keith. I guess my next concern is if the four speed shifter will hit my seat when shifting. Looking for the smoothest driving experience possible. Hence the removal of the 3 on the tree. Where is the best site to obtain the shifter cheapest?

Re: Saginaw 4 Speed Conversion Parts List

I bought my Hurst shifter for my 4-speed Saginaw from Hurst Shifter Online. Excellent customer service and good prices.
