I lived 20 minutes away from the Tarrytown plant growing up... Went there once for the tour in high school, long after the trucks were built there. Some 80's small cars... still it was amazing to watch all the pieces come together on the line, and at the end, they just started! Would really like to see more pics and stories from the Tarrytown plant from the 67-72 era.

I thought it might be interesting to track the last known serial number for a given plant & model year. I don't have any build date info for this particular truck, but thought it might be good to include on the list, as it likely is one of the last 72s produced in St Louis.

This is an awesome project! I don't have the blue sticker or a build sheet but it looks like mine would most likely a 5/71 build based on these dates.

Just a word of caution regarding use of a Protectoplate for assembly estimation. Of course truck assembly wouldn't be after a sale date but assembly could have occurred many months prior to the date on a POP as shown here on this 72 where the POP is stamped 01/09/73 (image 91/95): https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...0/2454106.html

Yep, agreed. When legible, some of the other data on the POP can help narrow down a date, such as the engine build date or truck build month. For example, this one has an engine date code of 12/11 and I think the build month is a "D" for December:

Some guys knew to store build sheets away long ago, a few are remarkably clean. The one pulled from my C10 is good enough, but what's currently behind the seat in my C20 is toast, it crumbles just to look at it.

I wonder how close the tracking on the first page is to a representation of what's still driving. Older they are the fewer of them makes sense, though seems there are more 1970 listed than 71.

I developed an assm. guide "kit" for restoring it from ground up. With assys, the guide accts for 1000s of OEM identifications and part numbers, all written in short order. 700+ images include assm, illust., charts, and points of interest. Much of the info. applies to all 67-72 GM trucks, and to a lessor degree all 67-72 GM vehicles.
