How many different trucks did you use to make yours

As I was in the garage working on my '67 listening to the radio. A song from Johnny Cash came on "One piece at a time". It made me wonder how many different year and different trucks people used to make up their ride.

I'll go first:
1 - '67 cab, front clip and rear end
2 - '71 frame and front suspension
3 - '02 Chevy Yukon front seats and center consul
4 - Engine and transmission from what I have no idea
5 - Rear disc brake from a Pacifica
6 - '21 Bed repro, A/C system
7 - '89 Chevy 1500 serpentine system

So I have parts from 7 different vehicles so far that I have used on my C10 fleet side pickup.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

That's funny that you would post this today. I was working on my cab today and figured I had 4 different trucks just in my cab. That does not include the rockers and doors that are re pops. At a earlier time in it's life must have been in a serious accident and the back half of the cab was replaced with a aqua truck. I just replaced the top with one off of a blue donor. Then today I replaced the cut dash from a black a/c truck. Mine was originally a 68 50th truck which I am going to paint it again.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

More like "what's still factory?" in my case.

front clip '68 custom camper
hood different '68. The original with the 2' scar from the grain truck is in the basement.
front susp + brakes '71 3/4T
bedsides '67
bed header panel dunno, but not the same truck as the bedsides.
bed floor aftermarket
rear end D60, I think from a '72 BB SWB. This was the first part I changed, around 1994.
tailgate no idea, but it's not the factory one that had the pipe dropped on it.
motors 350 from a '76 truck, then a 5.3 from a 2004 Tahoe
DBW pieces some other LS-equipped vehicle

Once I replace the driver's door and the windshield with OEM pieces, I'll have had parts from a dozen donor vehicles.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

about 1990 was a pretty original 68 gmc 910 rwd 292 3 in the tree hd coil springs long bed step side

Had engine troubles was taught how to build a 194 for it
Next found a early 68 k10 4x4 frame kept the flat deck that was on the frame for a bit
Found a 68 in the junk yard it donated the wiring harness and cage cluster
must have ran atleast 6 motors through it during this time frame
Motors ran 292 (Original) 194 (64 Acadian) 350 (74 c10) 350 (72 c10) 350 350 (69 C10)
picked up a 67 for the box and the windshield
Blew up the tcase had fun finding a sm420 with a t221 found it months later in a 69 k20

ended up parking it steering box got way to worn out and my collection of nicer 67 72 grew at that time

body and chassis wise 5 trucks not counting the trucks i parted for a new to me engine as a young fella then that would be more closer to 10 trucks and 1 car in total

Next looking at either return it to its 910 state or make it a 68 K30 work truck

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

I'm still alive! But the truck has been parked for a while even tho I'm still throwing money at it now and then. I rewired it but still have a few gremlins in there, not an electrician. Anyway, to the topic at hand.

1970 GMC, original dark bronze irridescent is now hugger orange / white. I should have repainted in original color, I honestly haven't seen a dark brown / white Chev or GMC...ever.

1 - 1967 bedside
1972 doors
tilt steering from mid 70's GMC Rally-Six van.
rad overflow tank from 1982 camaro
front clip (A-arms, tie rods etc.) from 1971 GMC truck

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

I killed a 70 CST 10, a 1990 Dodge dually, and a 71 C10 to get to my current build on my 1972 C20.

Sent to the junkyard or parted out. Massacre.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

Mine was at least 4 different trucks when I bought it. Oddly enough all the same color and scheme, but obviously 4 different trucks. I have added body parts and engine components from 3 others...so 7 donor vehicles at least. It has a 70 title, frame, and VIN plate, but the rest of it is 72 with some earlier lower trim. It's also part refrigerator and road sign. lol

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

Mine is mostly two trucks bashed together: a '67 C20 front clip, cab, bedsides & tailgate on a '67 C10 frame that was set up for V8, front & rear disc brakes, 5x5" hubs & rear axles. Bed floor and front bed panel was taken from a decent '72(?) long bed.

Cool Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

My 70 C/10 (Zooey) is made up of at least 4 different trucks other than the actual truck I started with. A 1971 hood with the emblem mounting holes drilled out, a 1967 small window low hump A/C cab converted to a high hump non A/C cab and titled as a 1970, a no tilt manual column and various pieces from a 1969 C/20 and, a tach gauge cluster from a 1969 C/60 so far.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

I like this thread. These old trucks, even one owners in some cases have been used and abused and kept together with duct tape and bailing wire.

Mine -it looks like an old truck with a new paint job. But, under the surface:

-Title, cab, and frame 1971 GMC.
-Driver door and glove box door, 1972 Chevrolet. (truck looks like the description on the glovebox door)
-Crate 350
-Tailgate off of a blue truck
-driver front fender off of a green truck
-1 aftermarket inner wheel tub

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

I pillaged two half ton 1967 GMCs to assemble my 1968 C20. Both were parts trucks that I bought, so I had lots of time to do so.

Gauges
Ashtray
Taillights
Front bumper
Entire bed

Being that the bed is a 67 it has no side markers, I am putting 67 front fenders on it too. Its more 67 than 68 at this point.

Of course I also have some E250 wheels on it.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

Rick, 4 different trucks just in the cab. That is crazy you must have a lot of patience to get all together and not mess it up. I do see you fixed your radio cut out the easy way and not the way I did it. I seen that method after I fixed mine.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

The 69 I am turning into a K20 is a true conglomerate of everything under the sun.

Cab is original heater only cab from my stepside.
Doors are the best of the spare parts I had, both from different donors.
Fenders and core support are from my 67 Suburban.
Cowl panel is from my old 67 C10.
Hood is from a random 68 donor.
Bed floor, drivers bed side and tail gate are from my old 67 C10.
Passenger bed side is from a random 68-72 donor.
Frame is from a 1970 C20 with original rear leaf springs.
Rear axle is a 14-bolt from a 1978 K20.
Front axle is a Dana-44 from a 1974 K20.
Front leaf springs and crossmembers are from same 1974 K20.
Wheels are from my old 2002 Chevy 2500 HD that I had on my 95 K3500.
5.7 TBI engine, wire harness & PCM are from a 1995 K1500.
4L60E transmission is from a 1994 K1500.
NP208 transfer case is from a 1987 K1500.
Standard rotation ribbed belt/ V-belt accessory drive is from a 1987 Camaro.
Bench seat and shoulder belts are the rear out of a square body crew cab.

Lots of other little stuff from all over the place but that is 14 major donors so far added to the cab it was built upon.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

Thanks I still have the cab corners and inner and outer rockers to go. I really want to get this to the body shop this spring for paint. I want a decent job not planning on a show truck but one that does look nice. I am going to drive it daily in the summer.

I am a Sheet Metal worker by trade. I do a lot of fabrication and welding at work. But there is too much to a good paint job for me. What goes first and what kind works with what. It's more than I want to take on. I want it to last my lifetime so I will have a pro do it. I will do the inner fenders, frame and core support no problem. Peanut74 I thank you for the kind words.

my '68 C10 is an OG. It's never even been in a body shop.
My 73 Jimmy was made out of at least 13 different trucks (that I can remember). E plurbis unum.

Re: How many different trucks did you use to make yours

Well my total is now up to 10 different trucks. I decided that I wanted to have a fold down jump seat. Went to the local yard and had to get parts from three different trucks to get one complete one. Dropped it off at my friends so he could recover it.
