Is there supposed to be a bolt spacer for the 400 TH fluid filter
1971 400TH, I found my filter without one.
Boy, long ago I asked this question and don't remember the answer. I can't even find the thread. I recall a spacer isn't used for this application or unnecessary, which might explain why I didn't mention one in my assembly guide. Anyway, with or without a spacer? Also, is this considered a deep pan? Other should the pick up tube install into the transmission's intake hole with one or two O-rings? Appreciate it, thank you.

It’s been a long long time since I’ve fooled with those.
I do remember (the filter) it is floating. Now whether it has anything else besides that bolt ? I don’t remember. Sorry I can’t help anymore than that

Depends on the depth of the pan. With the bolt you are showing, the pan is only about 1-1/4'' deep. The longer bolt and spacer takes a pan about 2.5'' deep. The deeper pan also takes a different intake plastic with an O ring on each side IIRC

no there is no washer for that bolt. The filter is a loose fit and just floats around on that bolt.
