Body Stamping History

In 1930 GM bought what was originally a buggy factory near downtown Indianapolis for a mere $900,000.00 cash. The building, equipment and trained skilled work force in place.

This was the Martin-Parry manufacturing co. circa 1930.

Martin and Parry were already making body parts for Ford, GM and others... Hence GM could buy this plant for their Chevrolet Truck Line and the other companies would have to make other arrangements for some of there parts.

Within 6 years this plant would be torn down and a newer plant built in 1936 by the Albert Kahn and Associates Co. This company was the architect of most of the automotive manufacturing plants. Many overseas even.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
