Gas cap / fuel fill repair. Who has done it?

Has anyone replaced the engagement ring on the end of a fuel fill where the gas cap attaches?
The ring the cap engages with looks to be a soldered on to the end of the fill tube. My thinking is I can unsolder the damaged one and replace it with a good one.
I have a bad one off of my Suburban that I replaced and I keep thinking I can repair it just in case I need it.
The photo is of my bad one and the one I replaced it with. I think at sometime in the past someone removed a locking gas cap with a pipe wrench (or other tool) instead of the key.
Thank you in advance.
