Suspension issue

So I finally completed the cpp lowering setup on my 72 shortbed. One side of the rear is 2 inches higher than the other. Thought, that's odd. Swapped springs from one side to the other and no difference, still same 2 inches. I dont see any damage to the frame or trailing arms. It was mostly level before this, but the springs had been heated to lower the truck originally. Any ideas on what to look at?

Thanks

Re: Suspension issue

Sounds like a bent or damaged frame. Do you know if the trucks ever been wrecked?

Re: Suspension issue

I have had the truck since 1991. No wrecks on my watch. I have a body guy stopping by this week to take a look at it on the lift. I dont have a good feeling about the road I'm starting down...

Re: Suspension issue

The front springs not in the perch correctly threw the back off? The front is off just a little. I will double check the front springs in a bit

Re: Suspension issue

Put the front on jack stands. See if it's still crooked.

Re: Suspension issue

Just saw your reply applebmw. It's on a lift now. I will raise it up and check where they are seated. You guys saying the front springs move around (not just up and down)

Springs don't need to be off but a small bit to throw everything out of wack, I put spacers on one side in front, differ size spacers ea side in rear, friend at alignment shop told me same thing, frame bent, with truck on ground. I chased it for weeks before figuring it out. Front springs need to be exact for it to set right......

Re: Suspension issue

My '67 stepside had a 2-1/2" difference between the right rear and left rear. Replaced front and rear springs, which made no change (although the front springs can make a difference in the rear stance). Took it to some old-timers here that do frame repair, and yup.... the frame was tweaked. They stated that a huge load had been placed in the bed on the left side, bending the frame. Took them about 30 minutes to straighten it back up. I now have 1/2" difference between left and right, which is acceptable.
