Lol!

Basically it is a tray that folds down against the seat back that can be erected when you have parked up at your favourite spot and enables the butler to place your tea and crust less sandwiches in such a way as you don’t have to balance everything on your legs….

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

Oh boy this is turning out to be a fun thread that wanders all over the place! Or perhaps I just need to get out more often... dumb hicks are easily entertained ya'know.

That Lockheed P-80 above the 1950 Thames... uhm....whatever the heck it is.. uh, moderately powered wheelbarrow I guess?.. sure adds a nice touch.

Just a thought.. but one thing you probably DON'T need is a full load of furniture in the bed. But hey Man, look, if furniture is your thing... (Thanks for the video, Grizz!!)

Ahh yes... picnic trays! You Brits think of everything. Which reminds me, I need to get more Grey Poupon.

While ah'm no match for yer British dry humor and wit, yall might enjoy the video link in my signature. There are also a number of USA road trip picture-vid's on that same site (US191) should you and Grizz want to take a trip without leaving the comfort of yer dens.

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

Great questions and great answers, some of which i must agree, some are options... mine are listed ..

1.) Comfortable seats - I am 6'0" and 300lb's (big boy... lol) so....
2.) Heat and AC - I like to drive and well want it to be comfortable, window down and AC on Blast.... lol
3.) Good safety measures: brakes, seat belts, tires .....
4.) Good Runner - not a huge HP monster but one that if i need to "school" a young person i can.... sometimes the opposite happens but that is ok too... lol
5.) Music - Must have great music to listen to.... variety and as loud as i want...
6.) Available seat for possible companion
7.) Good looking ride - to me at least

That is my list... the order can change at times honestly but for now that is it.

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

I definitely want to have the 305 V6 engine, definitely love the 19.5 wheels and tires

All though my 82 Chevy C30 diesel is with diesel engine and over drive automatic transmission it's just not as much fun as my 62 GMC dually.

Well any the GMC V6s.. 305/351/379/401/432/478...

Mike

Just watched your video!

Love the shorts!

Not sure your dog was as keen as you were to get up at 2am...

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

Glad you enjoyed the video! I made that especially for the forum members. Seems we can all relate in one form or another: insomnia, old trucks, lost years of our lives..etc.
The dawg is fairly tolerant of my antics, but yeah, she did give up early that night and found a couch elsewhere.
I previously missed item 6 on your "must have list": Manual transmission! Good for you! Might at well exercise that left knee as long as you can.
Donno if you ever read my "Welcome" posting, but there I describe one more thing that you should consider. When struck violently from behind whilst waiting for the traffic control to change, your head will slap hard into the metal cab (small window truck) and then ricochet forward against the steering wheel. Whereupon you will most likely take a brief nap. This is called a concussion. Since the brain is not hard-mounted to the skull, it sloshes around a bit, tearing small, but important electrical connections. This in turn causes you to forget numerous items upon awaking. Anyhow... just something to consider. Implications of kinetic energy might not even be an issue based on size of the average UK car verses 1960's American iron.

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

I like a truck that is nice and easy to drive, it must be reliable, nothing on earth is worse than having a dead vehicle in the middle of a busy intersection. My list would include, long wide box, manual transmission, manual choke, stock bench seat. Options I like would include power steering, I do like the look of the big back window. I like the custom cab trim around the windows ( hard to find for a GMC). I’m also a stock rim kind of guy.

Re: What do YOU think is a must have in a daily driver?

My "must haves" I've always done when building a truck. If it's not reliable then it's not going to be fun to drive.

All new brakes/wheel bearings/seals.
New tires.
Thorough suspension check over, new parts where needed.
New shocks- relocated if lowered.
All new tune up parts.
All new charging components, check over the entire wiring harness.
All new cooling components including heater core and fan motor.
All new/rebuilt/cleaned fuel system.
New exhaust system.
Fresh fluids throughout.
New shift linkage bushings.
New weatherstripping to seal the cab.
New windshield- zero wiper scratches, pitting, or cracks makes it much more enjoyable to drive, especially at night.
Headlight relay harness and Cibie H4 headlights.
Gauge cluster either restored or cleaned and new bulbs installed.
Lubricate all of the hinges/latches.
New turn signal/taillight lenses, bulbs, and refinished reflectors.
Working interior dome light.

Not 100% necessary, but when I get around to getting my granddad's '64 back on the road I'll be adding-

Vintage Air.
CPP 500 series power steering.
18" wheels to get rid of the soft 15" sidewalls for better handling.
2" receiver for towing.
Sway bars f&r.

I have used the starter to crank my dead truck out of the middle of a busy intersection more than once in my life.

I believe that is called a right of passage....

Mr Astro. 100% with you on your list - I have basically done exactly that. Will Woody ever be a daily driver?

Probably not.

But, once done, will be taking over duties from the Super Fiesta (tm) as something I can jump in to go to the shops, take the dogs out, get Ice Cream, do Burnouts etc...

I am compiling my list of suggestions Gentlemen, keep them coming.

P.
