Re: Finally Got My Stepside

Well I got the outside of the cab painted this weekend. Wow Its been over a year since my last post. I'm really happy to get past this painting of the cab. Now this opens up some smaller easier projects.

Re: Finally Got My Stepside

Hey Brian,
I have the glass ready to go back in. I need to mount the floor shifter and install the carpet and a lot of little misc things to get it running again so I can get it in and out of the garage so I have room to work on the doors and fenders. Thanks for asking.

My brother in law and I got the back window installed. The installation went good only took about an hour and four beers.

Re: Finally Got My Stepside

After my brother in law and I installed the back window. We thought we could take on the windshield. We gave it our best then I called a glass guy. It was 5:00 pm on Saturday he said he could come to my house Sunday morning. I thought that was cool of him. After 2 hours he cracked my windshield. He came back the next day with new windshield after 2 hours he gave up. He came back today with a new rubber seal and said lets give this a try after an hour he got it in. I think I got a defective seal to start with. I took care of the glass guy for his trouble. So we are both happy now.

Re: Finally Got My Stepside

Bummer about the cracked windshield. Sometimes the aftermarket glass is a little bigger that the oem. My friend had to have his glass guy grind about 1/4" off his to fit it. Could be like you said a defective seal. Keep up the good work. You'll be driving her soon.

Re: Finally Got My Stepside

Thanks guys, after my glass guy gave up with the new windshield his plan was to sand off a 1/4 inch off the top of the windshield. Then he decided to talk to his seal supplier first. The supplier told him that their was two part numbers for the 67-70 windshield seals. One was thinner than the other so he sent the thinner one. We compared the one that he sent to the one that I got and their was a slight difference between the two. I hope this helps someone

Re: Finally Got My Stepside

I got the seat frame painted had to weld up a couple springs and added some padding. Then installed a $149 dollar seat cover that fit really good.
