Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

I made the treck to Pendleton Oregon yesterday to check out the cars and visit with some of the folks at the Hotrod-A-Rama show in Pendleton.

My OT doesn't have the air working so it was an extremely hot trip down.

There weren't many trucks but here were the GM 47/59 ones.

Temp was well over 100 there so that may be a deal killer for a lot of folks.

The Burb had shiny "patina" paint but I can't tell if it was actual old paint of soeone's fake patina. Nice looking truck with very nice stock seats covered in light brown original looking material. I couldn't get decent shots of the interior though.

The light gray/ flat white maybe primer 59/59 is a sweet truck. Great interior on it. I like the 61 Impala steering wheel on a Custom truck the right year.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

A few more of the 58. Some sneaky tricks on it that you really don't notice at first look but sure add to it.

Sweet sounding AD that I am not sure if it is trying to be a Patina truck or they just stopped in the middle of a sanding job, loaded up and headed to the event.

It looks like it is getting some love after having a bit of a hard life in the past.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

I found the 54 hiding in the shade under a canopy, I lightened up the shot of the interior of the burb and the Blue 36 Ford was one of my favorites.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

A nifty Model A sedan with a Hemi in it and the back of the burb hidden somewhat behind the dude that walked in the way.

The last shot is the outside temp gauge on the dash of my car when I got back in out in the parking lot. That didn't drop by much when I got out on the highway running 70 it still was 114.

The heat and the cost of gas knocked a lot of Traditonal rigs out of going this year.

They cruised down town and parked on the street in the Hiistoric district a bit later and had an evening event down there with vendors set up and plenty of places to cool off and enjoy a cool drink.

This is one event that you didn't catch any flack at for hauling your fun rig on a trailer behind your fully air conditioned late model. My AC was out because my car had sat so long waiting for parts and it wasn't a fun ride without the ac. 120 miles door to door with a maybe 2 mile side trip to get gas, water and ice and a high dollar quart of oil.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

thanks for the pics!

and your late 90s - 00s era bmw doesnt have anywhere near enough warning lights on. i always fixed mine with electrical tape (over the warning lights)! there is no need to get uptight about the overzealous warning system in that era having a(nother) panic attack, it was always just par for the course.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

Looks like a decent show. I liked the Suburban (big surprise). The weird olive greenish color looks cool especially next to the brown seat color.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

This is a traditional rod and custom event where just about every vehicle is pre entered and photos are required with the entry form so that the vehicle meets the criteria of no big "rims", no billet engine accessories in prominent display nor anything else that doesn't fit the criteria.

I was only there Friday, it was 105 plus and may have been 114 when I left. Not for the woosies for sure. They moved the show down town about 5 oclock and had the main street in the historic distric blocked off and a party atmosphere with vendors for food and plenty of cafes and bars in that stretch. Hopefully the promoter will continue but I'm not sure that he had enough entries and sponsors this year to make it pay for it's self. Here is my smugmug album for the show https://robertdavison.smugmug.com/20...ama-Pendleton/

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

some people have a great talent for photography. Thanks MR48Chevy for all the photos you post. Guess thats something I need to work on when I retire. But do they still make film for my 35mm Nikon????

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

You can still find film. You may have to go to Baumgardners on fifth in Yakima to get film processed over here after you move. I still have my Pentax 35 MM but haven't used it in quite a while. I took 26 rolls of 36 photos with it on a road trip to Bonneville and Pleasanton in 1998 and it took me about six weeks to afford to get it all developed.

I still think film work better for large format prints.

I took this shot at 8 mg tonight and it won't blow up much over 18 inches wide without loosing detail.

Re: Hotrod-A-Rama Pendleton Oregon

Is that a shot of Mt Adams, Mt Rainer or just a cloud?
