37" tires 4" lift

Hey guys, I know standard recommendation is 4" lift 35" tires or 6" lift 37" tires. But...

I am looking for anyone that clears 37s with lower than a 6" lift without totally cutting up fenders. I have ORD 4" front leafs/ORD shackle flip in rear and would like to run 37s. I am ok with moving the front axle forward slightly and very minor trimming of the front fender. I would also be ok with a zero rate or possibly a very small body lift 1" or less. I do not want a 6" lift, 4" maybe 5" max.

I ran 37s on H2 rims on a truck years ago. 6" front springs, 4" rears with a 2.5" flip. I don't remember if it rubbed, I didn't wheel it with those tires on. But it was close with normal driving, so can't imagine it wouldn't rub off road'n....

You aren’t going to clear 37’s reasonably without at least 6”, especially if you want to wheel it. 35’s are known to rub occasionally on 4” when wheeling especially with 12.5 and wider tires. That is of course unless you get the sawzall out on the lower half of the fenders. Do it right, that’s all I can say.

The 37's will be tight and fit with the wheel straight and be okay for highway. If you want full turn at full stuff, bumpstops will need to be lowered approximately 4"-5". That is with front edge of fender trimmed. Clearance with a 10" wheel 4.5" backspace. A narrower wheel (8"-9") with same backspace will allow more clearance. 35's would be better for a 4" lift, still will rub when turning at full stuff.

From my experience, it won't work with 4" or even 5.5" & 36s or 37s unless you do ALOT of body trimming, both front & rear. 4" is possible with 35s.
Even a 6" lift & 37s is super tight, especially if running something like wider Swamper TSLs or something else with side tread lugs; the 37" military tires are little more forgiving since only 12.5 wide & no real lugs sticking out side to catch fender lips.

I have run '72 K/20s with 35/12.50s on 10" rims with 6" lift and the tires could rub but rarely did. I figure with new body mounts and 8" rims there would be no rubbing. I had 37/12.50 SSRs on 8.25 rims to put on it that I figured I'd at least need to add zero-rates for.

I have run 35/12.50s on 9.75 rims with 4" lift and I had to trim the tip on one front fender cup on one side. 8" rims would work.

I had another that came with 35/12.50 BFG A/Ts on 8" rims and just add-a-leafs (it looked like) and I could drive it but could rub tires, on road.

I ran a '71 Blazer with 7" lift, 37/13 Swampers, on 8" rims. I wheeled the crap out of that thing and never once rubbed a tire

When you are on the boarder line for tire size fitting a lift, the tread design (mud lugs) and wheel width can be the deciding factor. This is info not given with lift vs tire size charts. We get guys asking if their tire size and lift will work and they almost never give the wheel width. That third bit of information can make all the difference and so can side lugs. Also, between one tire and another listed as the same size the dimensions can vary a bit.
